Ive been wondering this for a while.. I notice I puff on my eGo more than I would a normal cig, But how much nicotine am I getting In my system? So if I smoked a pack of marb mediums a day , compared to soaking a cart in the morning and having it last most of the day with a 24mg liquid, what acyually gives you more nicotine?

Just curious cuz I took my blood pressure today and it was 143/91 with 70 BPM .. And Nicotine actually affects your BP , so I was just curious if im actually taking in MORE nicotine with a full cart a day vs a pack of mediums.?

I hope that made sense :)

It depends on what kind of Ecig you are using and how much liquid is actually in the cart. Then you can determine the amount of nicotine and compare it to your analog nicotine intake.

I'd guess they are within a 20% range of each other. Because if you were getting substantially more nicotine you would have likely noticed the difference. Feeling kind of sped up or having difficulty sleeping and things of that sort.

I know my nicotine intake went up some going through about .5ml of 8mg liquid a day. Used to smoke 5 Camel Light/Blue 100's a day. I'm using a few diff strength liquids now but I'd say overall since I began vaping my nicotine intake has gone up some. However, I've not smoked since 11th of Jun when I recieved the PV in the mail.

The avg of the diff strength liquids is still around 8mg. Once the newness of vaping wears off I'll probalby lower my nicotine back down to the old levels. I might not though because if I could have smoked analogs indoors I would've definitely smoked more. Cost was another reason I was limiting my tobacco consumption and attempting to quit.

So even if you are intaking a little more nicotine if things are working out well with your PV and you aren't having any side effects, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

One of the problems with determining the exact amount nicotine is that there is still ongoing debate regarding how much you actually intake by vaping. Some say 10%, others say 50%. I'm not sure, but, I believe the current consensus is around 20-30%.

At this point we can only make educated guesses. I personally feel the delivery of nic through the vapor actually provides less nicotine. I have reasons to believe this, as well as there are a few pieces written here and there floating around that agree. One such stated the 15 puffs off and ecig = 1/5 of a cig. I thought that low however. What's a "puff" off an ecig anyway? It varies too much to make a blanket statement like that.

Have you checked your BP several times and came to a average number? Wish I could help more, as that would mean I'd have answers that I'd like to know as well. If you do find your BP consistently higher and you are satisfied vaping, you could drop your nic mg.

There are people around here who can tell you things like how many drops fit in a certain cart and how many drops to a ml of juice. Drop size varies with the container, the person squeezing the drops, and the viscosity of the juice.

I smoked Doral Ultra lights and the pack listed .4mg of nic per cigarette. Using that as a basis, 20 cigs would be 8mg of nic. If you are using 24mg juice and used a ml per day, absorbing 40%, you would get 9.6mg per ml. Some say you only GET 40% in the vapor and absorb only a portion of that, so it's hard to say what the yield in your body of the nicotine actually is.

Maybe there's someone who can provide lab test results.

There is a lot of disagreement about how much nicotine we absorb via vaping, but your concerns are probably based on an assumption of 100% absorption. If there is one thing we DO seem to know, beyond all the disagreement, it is that we don't absorb anywhere near 100% of the nicotine via vaping.

There are those that argue we only get about 10% based on previous studies, and there are those that argue we get around 40% based on their own experimentation and testing. I imagine the truth for each person is somewhere in that range, depending on many factors.

Nicotine from cigarettes is absorbed from the smoke through the lungs.
It is spiked with ammonia to provide freebase nicotine for better and faster absorption.

Nicotine from vaping is absorbed mostly from the mouth and throat linings according to most of the things I've read, and it is absorbed much more slowly, so you're not going to find an electronic cigarette that will simulate the nicotine absorption from regular cigarettes.

Using regular cigarettes you get spikes of nicotine rushes, followed by crashes and cravings for more. With electronic cigarettes it is starting to look like we probably get less nicotine at once, but it might be building slowly over time to a more steady and constant level.

Some of the above is speculation, but it makes sense to me based on my experiences and from reading the experiences of many others.

Good write ups everyone.. I would like to know more about this topic as well

So far the vaping is going good.. No cigs in the past 3 days .. The taste of the American blend ( 24 mg ) is different , but its better than cancer ;)

My BP on avg is around 130/80.. But I am in the process of changing alot of things in my diet, and have been stressed out financially alot lately,. Also going to the ER a few days ago from nearly collapsing to find out I have Kidney stones.. Been a rough week :(

8-o Spiked with AMMONIA?!?!? You know, I smoked for 32 years and never knew that. I knew "there was a lot of bad stuff" in cigarette smoke, butI never bothered to find out exactly what because I really didn't want to know. Ignorance is bliss syndrome dontcha know.

I would venture to guess that your spike in blood pressure is due to the pain you're going through with kidney stones. Pain will raise your blood pressure significantly...at least it does mine.

My blood pressure and resting pulse rate have dropped several points since I started vaping and I'm a heavy vaper. My PV is rarely out of my hand and if it is, it's always within my reach. I love to vape more than I enjoyed smoking.
