I actually see them as the same product and the same lies and half truths have been attached to all of them. It seems their lies are working very well :(
I don't see American snus as being the same as Swedish snus due to the difference in how the tobacco is processed that result in higher TSNA levels in the American variety.

Do chew. dip, and snus have some risk of oral cancer? Probably, but Swedish snus look to have the lowest among along that spectrum of risk, with the risk quite possibly being negligible. Plus the overall risk of mortality with any smokeless tobacco product is likely an order of magnitude less than smoking cigarettes.

In any case, this thread started out asking:
Most people say nicotine doesn't cause cancer, but if that is the case, then why do people that dip get mouth cancer? Just curious .
The answer is: Other substances in the dip like TSNAs are the causative agent, not the nicotine.

I should have clarified my thoughts. I didn't mean that they were the exact same product and I do realize the the Swedish snus seems to be more refined. My point was, the powers that be have gone way overboard on ALL of the ST products just like they are trying to do with vape products.

Agreed. By refusing to acknowledge that smokeless tobacco (and vaping!) have a much lower overall risk of disease and mortality than smoking, they've done smokers a tremendous disservice.

Oh I do agree that Smokeless Tobacco has less risk then smoking but it has enough of a risk that I decided using it as a smoking cessation product was not worth it. It may be less but the risk is too great for my likes and since I quit smoking over 2 years ago it is really a moot point now.

so I have been looking back on older posts, and reading a lot of forums. Most people say nicotine doesn't cause cancer, but if that is the case, then why do people that dip get mouth cancer? Just curious .
