OK, my problem is juice never tasted like cigarettes to me, I got "regular" tobacco flavor in my Vgo kit, and I quickly grew to dislike the dry acrid taste of cigarettes that I had felt chained to when I took a puff just to see what I thought of cigarettes after getting used to my new best friend. I put the cigarette right out and picked my Vgo back up!
I tried some menthol, and it tasted like peppermint, not the eucalyptus menthol that cigarettes use, and in the cartomizer that I had purchased to try, it was REALLY STRONG!! reminded me of sucking on a tube of toothpaste. In my cart/atty menthol tastes a bit better but still like toothpaste. :-\
I got to thinking about the actual taste of the non-menthol tobacco and what I think I did like about it was the sweetness of the Propylene Glycol.
What does the nicotine liquid do to the flavor? Does a higher content change the base flavors? I get migraines and I do know that vanillin and strong fragrances are triggers for me, but is it a bad taste to just have nicotine in a PG/VG mixture? Maybe a little water/grain alcohol for the physical throat hit? I just can't seem to get into all these "dessert" flavors and I'm a little leery of tobacco flavor, what exactly is all this stuff? I've heard complaints on this forum about not enough flavor, I don't think I'd mind a little flavor but this stuff is powerful... Can anyone give some thoughts on this please? Thanks!

Interestingly, my mom started vaping, gave up a 60 year tobacco habit almost overnight. She only vapes unflavored nic juice. Doesn't want "all that stuff"... just wants juice to taste like juice. I, OTOH, think unflavored juice tastes like crap (OK, more like turpentine).

Anyway, that's kind of the taste of nicotine. Turpentine-ish. Mild, but there. Also, VG has a sweetness, PG harshness. The easy way to answer your own question is, of course, to order some unflavored liquid.

*grins* Thanks Atty... I see you around a lot in the threads I browse. Definitely going to give it a try, and order some flavorings, a little menthol to experiment with too. Maybe I'll catch on to getting my nic with a nice key lime pie flavor sometime but I think I'll want just enough to cover the taste of the nicotine. I'll probably haunt the DIY next and this may be for that thread but I do still wonder, what makes a flavoring in e-juice? Is it an absolute? simply an essential oil? Or maybe a synthetic? One thing that always bothered me about analogs was the mile long list of freakishly scary ingredients, I know I'm dodging a big bullet by switching to begin with, but I like to analyze everything and knowing I can feel good about whats in flavorings too would really put my mind at rest. I haven't had too much luck with the search box on this forum I keep getting the same advanced search page popping up with no results showing. Using firefox. :p
