so I have rx200 with a aspire cleito tank. I am vaping with 3 mg of nicotine. I'm running it at 48.8 watts and 3.20 VoLTE. I vape about a tank a day, 2 tanks at most or under a tank. Also I will hit it back to back, and hit it a lot. But My tank holds about 3.5 ml. How much nicotine am i taking in? More than when I smoked?? I used to smoke about half a pack to a pack of menthol American spirits a day. Also, you guys think vaping is still better than smoking? I plan on using 3 mg of nicotine for a while. Not gonna go down to zero for a while. Thanks.

Hello and welcome to the forum. Glad to have you here!:)

It's not nicotine that is so bad for smokers. Cigarette smoke contains over 4,000 chemicals, including 43 known cancer-causing (carcinogenic) compounds and 400 other toxins. Nicotine by itself is not very addictive.
Just think of it this way. Vaping is safer than smoking. Not vaping is safer than vaping.

A "general guideline" for nicotine concentration in e-liquid to the number of cigarettes smoked per day. If you are subohming (resistance under 1.0Ω) cut these nicotine levels by at least 50%.

06 mg = 10 cigarettes or less
12 mg = 20 cigarettes
18 mg = 30 cigarettes
24 mg = 40 cigarettes

Vaping is lower risk than smoking.
There is about 1 mg of nicotine in the smoke of one cigarette. A pack a day would expose the smoker to 20 mg of nicontine. I vape 7 ml of liquid per day. Each ml has 10 mg of nicotine. 7 ml X 10 mg nic = 70 mg of nic per day. I don't know how much of the nic is actually absorbed for smoking vs vaping but I'm sure there is more nic in my system than when I was smoking.

Welcome to ecf! So, here's the thing. Pretty much everyone agrees that the least harmful thing to put in your lungs is air. Some might argue that, with the level of potential pollution, even air is dicey, but that's a different conversation. :). Smoking is at the other end of the spectrum: as Susan said, there are a ton of chemicals in cigs that are not friendly. Is vaping 100% safe? Doubtful; everything has some risk associated with it. Is it a whole lot safer than smoking? Absolutely! Best of luck to you!

Let's say you're vaping 6ml a day of 3mg.
That's 18mg before you vape. Your brand of cigarettes has over 100mg in half a pack before you smoke them. You get 10mg at least (robot test) probably nearer 20mg in real life smoking.
Even before we take into account the theoretical loss of at least half the nicotine from vaporizing the liquid you are already winning.
There is no doubt you are taking in less nicotine. Rest easy, vape on. :)

Over a hundred? In 10 American Spirit cigs? Where did you find that amount? I found two websites with the nic content of the cigs I smoked (American Spirit Perique). Those cigs were at the top of the AS list, both the sites said slightly more than 2 mg of nic, but one said 16.5 mg of tar and the other said 20.5 milligrams. Here‘s one link I have, I‘ll have to find the others that mention the AS cigs and edit this post.

How does the nicotine content in electronic cigarettes compare to regular cigarettes?

Over 100mg (in 10 cigarettes) before smoking. It's an arbitrary figure, I admit, but in truth maybe even higher. If the yield on AS Menthol is 2.1mg then the total Nicotine before smoking (10 cigarettes) could even be as high as 20mg per cigarette or 200mg per half pack.

The point I was trying to put across is that cigarettes contain much larger amounts of Nicotine (before 'using' them) than most of us think, as we tend to read the yield on the packet - as tested by a inhaling 'robot' in the tobacco factories.

E-cigs do not give the user 100% of the Nicotine in the liquid, only a portion of that, as suggested here.

Tobacco cigarette vs e-cigarette nicotine equivalency

Either way, 5ml (or more/less) of 3mg is not going to be as much Nicotine as half a pack of smokes, and certainly not higher yield cigarettes (like I smoked too) such as AS.

The yield from 10 x 2.1mg cigarettes is 21mg, if we believe the tobacco company.
The total contained in 5ml of 3mg is 15mg (or 7ml of 3mg is 21mg) but that's before vaporizing.

Sorry if it sounded unclear, I was trying to generalize to help the O.P.

The general rule of thumb is if your nic intake is not right you will naturally adjust
your usage accordingly to a certain extent.
If your nic is to low you will tend to vape more to get where your body needs to be.
If your nic is to high, headaches and nausea and cold sweets an such will tell you
to slow down or adjust your nic downward.
Your body adjusts to nicotine fairly quickly and tends to find its own intake level.
Of course this level is different for just about everyone.
Over a long time like other things it might tend to increase over time. It however
is dissimilar than other things as in most cases it takes a long period of time.
Not in all cases of course. There is always an exception that violates the rule.
Then what ever equipment you use has to be considered. On similar devices
the results will be just as dissimilar as the individuals that use them.
In conclusion you will have to ferret through all the good advice the other
posters have proffered and, with a little hit an miss find out what works best
    for you.
Good luck and, don't get discouraged. Good things happen to those with
    a little patience.

    Just to clarify...
    :)

That is how much is absorbed, not how much there is in a cigarette...
How Much Nicotine Is in a Cigarette? - Quit Smoking Community
Okay, I'm aware that a cig has 10 or 20 times more nic and most of it is consumed by combustion or at least not inhaled or absorbed. Again, there is a lot more nic in me these days than when I was smoking. I don't think that's problem. I wouldn't mind taking fewer puffs per day, I'm working on that. The only reason I want to reduce daily nic is so my stash would last longer if governments interfere with supply. I don't know how much of the 70 mg that's vaporized is absorbed by my system.

If you are worried about the stash... Stock up. There is this site: e-liq, you can buy a liter of juice (depending on options for ~$40) yep, that's 100 10ml bottles worth. I estimate that I have a 30 years supply of the stuff that will be regulated. I don't imagine they can do much regulation with PG and VG. Flavors, well - I'm sure a new business will show up to cover that. I order the 10% or 100mg/ml stuff, picked up a liter of it. That should do it!

*Note that I mix this down to 1% first* Then I use it to make juice at .1 - .3, depending on use (dripper, tank) etc.
