Alright, so I decided to order some regular tobacco flavors from myfreedomsmokes and noticed that they mixed their juices up to 48mg strength. I decided to penny pinch and get a bottle of 48mg menthol to cut in half later to get 2 bottles out of one. Well.. That never happened because when it arrived at my house I decided to try it straight to see if it gave me a buzz. It was soooo delicious that I never ended up cutting it because it was perfect for me. Never got sick, a headache, the jitters or any other sign of over nicotine usage. It just curbed my cravings like no other. I work with another guy who also vapes and he saw my bottle that said 48mg and thought I was nuts. He was curious though, so I let him take a puff and he looked like he was going to die. He then complained of a headache shortly after.
I just dont understand.. Everything about it is perfect for me; Throat hit, vapor, taste, and It makes me never want to pick up an analog again. Any other juice before this under 36mg just didnt work for me. Even some flavored 36mg juices didnt curb my cravings. So does this make me a nic junkie? Am I nuts like my coworker says?

There's no-one out there that says 'oh,your only allowed to smoke 3 analogues a day and thats your limit' , but if thats what you did smoke a day your head would probably pop on 48mg.

We all have our own levels of nicotine thats required to stop the cravings,i used 36mg originally and still found it hard.Thats why there are so many levels available. Obviously 48mg is your level and right for you(at the moment). At one time the highest you could get was 36mg and it looked liked the available level was going to drop to 24mg,how would you cope if that became the norm? Thats the reason why quite a few people drop through the levels.

Good luck with the vapes!

I vape 48 and 54mg unflavored straight all the time. I also smoked 2 packs of cigs a day for 32 years. As it's been said, everybody has different tolerances.

Chris, I am curious to know if you get a slightly plastic-like taste with unflavored. I have tried 36mg unflavored but got this distinctive aftertaste that was... hmm I dont know how to describe it. slightly unpleasant but not too horrible. Kind of like the smell of when you open up a brand new DVD. idk maybe its just my atomizer. Nothin a little menthol wont mask!

Thanks for the reply

No, but, I don't sterilize my attys for every new flavor either. I'll just drop some high mg unflav into whatever atty I've got going so it picks up some of the aftertaste of the last flavor.
You might be getting a taste of a melting cart.

My maximum was 36mg, just 5 cartomizers prefilled (a mistake in my order), one of the best vape I ever had though, every puff was like a sip of coffee, it really got me excited after a few minutes of vaping it.

But 48mg is even more scary, I would tried to slowly cut down to 36mg if I were you (or at least 42mg)!

Went from 18 to 24 to 36 with an occasional 48 or 54. 36 stopped the cravings and a week and a half after I started vaping I was cig free. I don't get a buzz from the 48 or 54, to me it's like I'm vaping 36 with a stronger TH. I'm not really concerned though, remember when you lit a cigarette? You usually pretty much smoked it gone, right? Vaping I can take a hit, if it does make me feel a bit wierd, I just don't have to hit it again, right? The main thing is getting your lungs back and trying to be a bit more healthy. I was shown an x-ray of my lungs 27 years (re-enlistment - 1983) before I started vaping and they were as black as ink then. I think it'll take me more than a year to get them back, probably never completely 100%functional, but, vaping is better than smoking. If I need a slightly higher dose of nic than most, then so be it.:)

You should do whatever it takes to get off the analogs.

But, remain cognizant of this --

Last year at about this time, 36mg e-liquid disappeared. Many of the vendors were informing us that 26mg was going to be the highest available -- forever. The vendors that had 36mg anything quickly sold out of it. About 6 weeks later 36mg came back and then 48mg ensued. Not to say it will happen again, but my feeling is that if there is some kind of a ban or some kind of gov't regulation, 48mg will not be available, at least not easily.

Secondly, I'm a TH fiend. That's sort of odd because I smoked Lite cigarettes but I am definitely addicted to TH, more so than nicotine. (I normally vape at 16mgs and 18 mgs) Nothing I've found gives a better, more realistic TH than nicotine.

For those two reasons, I hope you just stay aware that you're vaping at 48mg and make a concerted effort to reduce it when you feel that you can. IOW, try not to get used to it, for if the 48 becomes unavailable, you're going to find yourself in a bind.

Good luck, Dale.

If a ban does happen there is always the DIY option. Buy larger quantities of high mg/ml Nicotine which can be stored for use later. The government will not ban PG, VG, and flavorings. :)

To the OP, you may find that over time you need less nicotine. If you start to get headaches, begin lowering the mg/ml.

Oh yea! BTW, did I mention the open heart surgery in 1990? Vaping is much better than walking down 3 flights of stairs to go outside and smoke a cigarette the day after having open heart surgery. I was a hard-core smoker. Took the elevator back up, just lazy, that was all. :)

Wooooooooooooooooooooow.

That.... is .... Hardcore.

Daleishd,

You are not the first person to notice something like this. When I first started vaping (9+ months ago) I spent 3 or 4 weeks alternating between 48 and 60 mg juice. Eventually I dicovered the 48 mg stuff was strong enough, and am currently quite content using 32 mg/ml juice

I can go a day occasionally with 24 mg but then I want something stronger. It's nice to be able to adjust to my own best level.

You have a very high tolerance indeed... unlike your coworker. Like alcohol, we all know someone who gets totally wounded after only one beer. lol

If you want to eventually get off the poison, perhaps put together a plan to slowly wean yourself off. I gave myself 90 days. I like to keep it simple and keep my juices at the same nic level and control my nic INTAKE by the amount of vaping I do. In the beginning I was vaping 3-4ml per day of 25mg and now only do 2-3ml. This month I've adjusted all my juices down to 18mg, next month 12mg, etc...so by the end of 3 months I should be at zero. But only if you want to get off nic, some people have no intention.

Good luck to you Dal, glad to have you aboard!!
