Thanks to this forum I'm going to try a PV.
Have decided on a eGO, as I know I will want the longer battery life.
Still looking to find one in stock.
My question is-
What is a comparable nicotine level to a Marlboro /Camel /Basic Light cigarette?
What else should be purchased with a kit for a months worth of trouble free vaping?
If this goes well for me my fiance' is next, but I know she will not stay with it if it's to much of a hassle. I need to get all the bugs worked out.
Thanks to everyone for all the great info, this forum has already kept me from wasting money on low quality stuff!!!

Congrats philster! I would try 16mg first and then decide from there if you want to go lighter or stronger. An extra battery always comes in handy as well extra carts and juice. I was worried when I started 5 days ago how much of a hassle it would be too. But surprisingly I actually look forward to this new routine because I know it will be ALOT better than smoking 20+ cigarettes a day. Good luck!

Or you can get a higher nic level and cut it with a 0mg juice if it's too strong. I had a really hard time trying to figure this out too. It seemed like some people who smoked lights ended up wanting 24mg, while some people who smoked straights or filters ended up liking the 12mg juice. And vice-versa. Odd. I think folks are saying the nic level might effect the throat hit too or something so if the throat hit is what you're addicted to that you might want a higher nic level. I got the 24mg because my biggest fear was that it would be just like all the other times I tried to replace my nicotine (patches etc...) picture me clinging to the couch for dear life re-reading the label over and over to confirm that the product really does contain nicotine...finally giving up. Like I said, you can always cut it down with 0mg if its too strong.

I find that the nic level is really Dependant on how you play with your vapor. I would power smoke a camel light in about 2 minutes, but at that temperature, most of the nicotine should have been destroyed in the combustion. thinking I was a 2 pack a day guy I thought i would need something stronger, but 16mg is fine for me. I also find that if i inhale the vapor, i get less of the nic directly to my brain than if i take a mouth inhale, and slowly exhale through my nose, which gives me a wicked rush if i do it a couple of times.. my friend who started vaping with me would only smoke a couple of cigs a day. he kept riding me about my high nick level, and how often i used the pv, but he kept smoking an analog a few times a day, and finally broke down and asked me to spike his with some 48mg stuff i got just for that purpose.

I would go 18mg- I
was also a camel user like yourself and I seem to enjoy the 18mg liquids and carts

I'd 2d that, I smoked 2 packs of camel lights a day and 18mg worked for me. I quit analogs the first day. I did find if I started the day off with 24mg, I didn't chain vape the rest of the day. Also I slowly got away from tobacco flavors. After six months of vaping, I have cut down, a tornado battery last 3 days between charging.

If you feel strongly about that I would look into the Vapor King KR808 with cartos COULD NOT be easier.

Vapor4Life:: Because it's your life :: Electronic Cigarettes & Alternatives to Smoking

It was the same for me - I first picked up an ecig a little over a year ago and dropped it after a few weeks because it was a hassle.

When I came back on here and found out about cartos I dove back in and cut down mightily over the course of a month and have been smoke free for over a week.

If you feel that strongly about going with a 510 cartomizers are now being released for 510s but from I've read they don't hold as much as the 808 cartos do.

Good Luck!

good info...hadn't thought about cutting it with 0 mg i was gonna start lower cause i thought i might end up not being able to vape a higher nic level...so ty for that info!

By the Way, Tasty Vapor has a great deal on some of the best juice in the world. If you want to cut your nic levels without losing flavor, try ordering the 36 MG from him and cutting it down with the doublers. Basically the doubler is the same as the nic juice (has all the flavoring) but does not contain any nicotine. I just ordered some of this and thought it will be really nice to be able to cut down my nic levels a little at a time until I am just vaping the doublers!!

Edit, Almost forgot to mention - The nic bottles are 1 oz (29ml) for 15 bucks and 10 bucks if you get the weekly special. The doublers are 15 buck for 4 OUNCES!!!! Thats almost 120ml!! Here is the link -

I was about a pack to pack and a half smoker of American spirit lights. I started at 36 mg and stayed there for about 2 days, went down to about 24 for a couple of days. and have settled on about 14mg (cutting down w/ 0mg juice) I am glad I went that high for a couple of days and I was able to quit analogues within one day of having a 510. not everyone is able to switch over so easily but I fell part of my success was getting More nicotine than I was used to for a few days until I was comfortable with vaping, and not having hard craving for analogues.

hope the switch goes smoothly for you!

I used to smoke Marlboro ultra lights and 18 to 25mg seemed perfect to me. At work about 60% of the smokers have switched to e-ciggs. Those who went with lower than 18mg's to start had the most problems durring the switch. Now it's common knowledge at work to start off with 18-25mg. Everyone that started on that dose quite smoking within the first 3 days. Those that started at a lower doses seemed to flip back and forth for a few weeks. I'd also advise you to get some menthol E-juice. Halo to be precise. Mixing a few drops with whatever e-juice you get will give you more of a throat and lung hit and will satisfy you more. You can just vape the halo but I like to mix it with cafe mocha from the indy vaper shop. I think because the mocha has a fuller aroma it just satisfies more.

I got the Toranado (a rebadged ego) from wicked e-juice website. So if you can't find the EGO in stock I'd suggest you get it from them. I love my tornado!

The lowest I tried was 12. The great thing about vaping is since it's not harming your body like cigs you can vape more on a lower nicoteen dose and go till you get your fix.

Philster, hang in there for that eGo. Just got mine from dietsmokes and there great. I dont recommend the Tornado only because the charger is a slower charge. The Janty has a 2 hour charger(mine actually charge in under 2 hours). However i would still recommend looking into a 510 kit because your going to need several atties and there are times that big battery can be a bit much. For instance i wouldn't take it to a bar or club, its just not cig like enough and draws too much attention.

As for nic levels, it's all about the person. I smoke Mar lights and started on 18mg, had to jump to 24mg, and now use 36mg for mornings. Play around with different juices and companies. Not all juices are created equal. My first two orders were horrible, not in flavor but in viscosity. Leaked like a bad faucet not matter what i did, with no throat hit. My most recent order is amazing in flavor and viscosity.

I have an ego (tornado) on the way from TotallyWicked. I believe they are still in stock.

As for nic strength. I suggest staring out high. I personally started with 18mg, and although at first it seemed to do the trick, I was never able to fully quit smoking until I upped my dosage. Now I am a 24/36mg vaper.

If my limited experience is any judge, do look for it to change over time in your early stages. (1+ ppd Marl Medium smoker here, but one who tended to wish they were Reds <g>). 18mg seemed to satisfy me early on and initially the 25-26mg stuff seemed a bit much, but just lately I've been liking some 30mg VG juice (and have some 36 on order). And, unless it's my imagination, I seem to be noticing an increasing number of 36mg vapers on this forum in just the month or so I've been here.
