The best I can explain it is the below recommendations as follows:

10 cigs a day = 6 mg e-liquid
20 cigs a day = 12 mg e-liquid

20 cigs a day = 18 mg e-liquid
30 cigs a day = 24 mg e-liquid

It doesn't matter if the cigs are ultra light or full flavor. The above recommendations are what most B&M vape shop sales staff recommend. However, nothing is written in stone and your results may vary.

Most clearomizer tanks hold approximately 2 ml of juice, and that is what most novice vapers consume daily.

I do at least 5-6ml a day... And I'm new :p

I use to do Ultra Lights, 1.5 or more packs a day (after restarting after quitting for 2.5 years) and went from 18mg (1.8%) nic which made be kinda sick at the end of the day chain vaping, down to 12mg (1.2%) nic and feel better.. Gonna go down again next juice order..

I consider myself a chain vaper too. I'm thinking of knocking down my mg level is steps from 18 to 15 to 12... I probably go through between 6ml and 9 ml per day that is why I was trying to figure out what my nicotine intake is. Thanks for the reply.

Thanks Baditude (great name BTW) so if I am reading this correctly 2ml's of 6mg e-liquid = 10 cigs as a very rough estimation.

I tried to work it out mathematically too when I started. Now I go by how I feel, because you can tell when you are getting too much or too little.

It's hard to work the math because different gear will deliver nic better than others. It also depends on your vape style. A long, slow lung hit can be less nic than a long, slow mouth hit exhaled through your nose. (Even your smoking style could deliver more or less nic depending on your number of drags per cig.)

There are posts on ECF that explain vaping techniques and nicotine delivery in vaping vs. cigs. There are also great posts and research about nicotine myths that help ease excess anxiety about the effects on your health. Basically, people here seem to match how they feel with how often they want to vape. Some step down levels, and some are happy where they are. If you want to chain vape, but find your heart is racy, you get a headache and feel nauseated - you get some lower nic liquid. And keep some higher around for stress times!

Whatever you decide, it'll be what works for you. Good luck!

It is kinda tricky trying to compare the two. I smoked about a half a pack of camel blues a day and a couple of snus pouches a day. But when I switched to vaping exclusively I was not happy with anything less than 36mg and vaped it like a freight train all day long. But for the last couple of weeks I've dropped it down to mostly 24mg and every once in a while 12mg. But I still puff the 36mg on occasion too.
It's just way different than smoking. It's like it not even the same nicotine. And in a lot of ways...it's not the same nicotine.
The advice to listen to what your body tells you is perfect advice imo.

a lot depends on the device. some styles of atomizers are more efficient that others.
the best estimates we have right now are about %50 of the nicotine in the e-liquid will actually make its way out of the device in vapor form. a lot of the nicotine is lost. so that means if your vaping 24 mg per mL with a fairly efficient atomizer your really only getting about 12 MG per mL and not all of that 12 MG per mL is going to be absorbed into your body.
like i said it really depends on the style of atomizer and a few other factors.
Its not so clear cut.
