Hello everyone. I did a lot of searching on nicotine levels and if I understand correctly a %1.2 nicotine level in e-juice is 1.2 mg nicotine per ml. What i am asking here is if its correct to assume then that a tank with 3ml of %1.2 juice in it has a total of 3.6 mg of nicotine so that if I was use to smoking marb lights which are .8 mg nicotine per cig I would have consumed the same amount of nicotine for a 3ml tank as smoking 4 1/2 cigs? I dont sound right to me.

If you are used to smoking Marlboro's, as was said above, probably start with 18, if you were a really heavy smoker maybe even 24mg. It also depends on the gear, as you said you will be using a tank, if I put that same 24mg in an RDA, I'd most likely blow my lungs out. I started at 24mg in tanks, I now am at 6mg, using mostly RDA's, it is a journey to get where you will feel settled in, but the journey is worth the final destination.

1.2% nicotine concentration translates to 12mg/ml. So your 3ml tank contains about 36mg of nicotine.

I wouldn't get caught up worrying about your nicotine levels. You'll be lucky if 1/4 of the nicotine in the tank is absorbed by your body, i.e., 9mg.

Tobacco smoke contains all sorts of goodies besides just nicotine, including alkaloids that helps your body actually absorb the nicotine that's there. When vaping, you're really only exposing yourself to a small fraction of what's in smoke. You can drive yourself mad trying to come up with some sort of numerical equivalent; such a conversion just doesn't exist (again, because vapor contains so few ingredients of the overall cocktail that is smoke). It contains nicotine, but it's very hard to say how many of those 36mg you're actually absorbing.

If you feel dizzy/jittery, then you've probably vaped too much, and if you're craving a cig, you might not have had enough!

I also found both 18 and 12 too strong; I smoked ultra-lights for the last 20 yrs of my 39 yr smoking habit. So I got down to 6mg, quit smoking, and found I actually needed a bit more, so I slowly went back up a little; now I'm very comfortable at about 10mg, though I go a little lower at night, to prevent the pounding-heart when I try to go to sleep.

Thanks for all the replies. Im mainly curious if the increase of e juice I been using is from my body wanting the same amount of nicotine I was consuming. Im probably close to 12 - 15 ml of juice a day now where when I first started vaping and put the cigs down 7 weeks ago I was using maybe 6 ml a day. The juices I am using varies from no nicotine to 16 mg but I would say I am probably averaging 8mg per ml. If I am only absorbing %20 of the nicotine then I am averging a pack and a half worth of nicotine which is still less than when I smoked.
The first juice I used was 16mg and now that makes my head swim and so does too much of 12 mg so the next batch I order I will try 8 and see how that feels.
Once again thanks for all the help!

You might consider that perhaps it's not the nicotine your body is craving; my own nicotine dependence is very low, but the cravings I experienced after my 2nd quit, this summer, were just ungodly. There are a great many other chemicals in cigarettes than just nicotine; some of those chemicals are to enhance nicotine's effects, but there are others even beyond that, and all of them contribute to the cigarette addiction, which is far greater than any nicotine dependence -- which is a large part of the reason why simple nicotine replacement has so often been ineffective, for so many people.

There is a product called "Whole Tobacco Alkaloids," or WTA, which contains the full alkaloid spectrum of tobacco; when I added this to my ejuice, my cravings completely vanished, and have not returned; I've also not experienced the extreme mood swings I encountered in my first quit back in March. If you are vaping such an extreme amount of ejuice and still not feeling satisfied, I would strongly suspect the addiction to those other alkaloids present in tobacco, and WTA can definitely help.

You can find it at aromaejuice.com, and wholecig.com. It's a bit more costly than regular ejuice, but more than worth it.

Stupid question... If say I have a 12 and a 6 of the same flavor, if I mix it I will cut the percentage right? I only have 6s and one twelve and I'm struggling with only 6. Should I try mixing the 12( mint) with the other flavors?

Yes, they will average -- if you mix equal amounts of 6mg and 12mg, you'll have 9mg.

I have to do that, and it's a pain, but the only way to deal with it unless you DIY.

You can mix them, I do it all the time. %50 of a 12 with %50 of a 6 should give you a nine. I have a cherry blossom juice with an awsome flavor that after about 10 minutes of vaping becomes overwhelmingly too stong a taste. I mixed it with a vanilla zero nicotine and now have a good all day vape flavor and it cut the cherry nicotine from 18 to nine. Dont know how mixing mint with others will work but its good with a chocolate e-juice :)

I gotta try that whole tobacco alkaloids. That might be why I am chain vaping so much but I did chain smoke when I was off work too.
Thanks Andria!

part of the reason you might be chain vaping too, is because you are expecting it to be exactly the same as with cigs. Remember that vaping gets the nic into your system MUCH SLOWER than cigs, so you gotta give it time to get into your system. It is ok to put the device down!!!

Also remember to inhale and hold in your mouth, take some shallow into your lungs (this is optional), and exhale through your nose. Do this slowly... like you were smoking a cig. If you hit an ecig like it was a cig, and do the quick drag and exhale, to get the nic in quickly... you are actually not getting it into yoru system efficently.
