Just getting into DIY and I'm looking to buy 100 MG VG base. I'll only be mixing 3 to 6 MG juice and I'm wondering is there any difference between the high cost Nic from nude versus the Nic I'm seeing everywhere for 45 to 50 bucks a liter? I have had harsh eliquid from vendors at 6 MG and I've always thought it must be cheaper Nic but not sure if I was just a noob. So my main question I guess is spending the extra money worth it?

Short answer, yes there's a difference.

I'm a flavor chaser and NN nic IMO is the cleanest tasting nicotine I have found. It really allows the flavor to shine in my mixes. Wizard Labs used to have a nic base called Ice which was on par with NN as far as being colorless and very close to flavorless but it is sadly no longer available.

Some nic has a peppery taste to it which appeals to some I personally don't care for.

Mixing at 3-6 mg/ml the cost difference per 30 ml will be negligible.

Heres a great thread by Cyrus Vap with much info, it's extremely long but you can skim through most of it and concentrate on the reviews.

I've heard great things about Vapers Tek nic but have not tried it myself.

Since you are new to DIY, you need to find the nic that works for you. I suggest buying small quantities from many different nic vendors and see what tastes best to YOU. Make your own decision. Why listen to people on here? Taste is very subjective and just because people say "Brand X" is the best does not mean it will be the best for you. Same goes for flavorings. In time, you will find what you are looking for. I sure did! :) :2c:

Good advice before the nic fanatics stop in to tell you what's best. (You know what they say about opinions)

I guess I was just looking for the Nic that is the most flavorless or the least harsh. Mfs and heartland have liters for 45 to 50 bucks which is less then half the price for nude. I've had people say you'll notice no difference at the levels I'll be mixing at then I've had people say that I still will.. I was just mainly looking for opinions because I'm kind of a addict and I know this is going to get expensive quick. When I get to the flavorings part, I won't be surprised that two months and I'll probably have close to 100 bottles of flavorings

Well, I have used nic from MFS, Wizard Labs, Vapers Tek, RTS and nude. The difference? Couldn't tell you. They all tasted on par to me, but others would likely scoff at my observation. It's going to be difficult to get a response that is 100% across the board, so I still agree with buying small amounts from each vendor and testing them to find what suits you best. You might love the cheaper nic while someone else will tell you you should hate it. Good luck!

Thanks for the replies. I'm skimming the massive thread linked here and there's more info in it then I'll ever be able to take in. I pretty much just drip low ohms and will probably only make deserts and a few fruity blends and just didn't want something that's going to kill my throat. I'll take the advice and buy a few small batches and find what I'm looking for.

From my experience fruit flavors suffer the most from any nic imparted taste, followed by bakery then tobacco.

Remember, these are my experiences only and may bear little to no resemblance to reality.

Small batches at first are definitely the way to go, better to re order than to be stuck with a liter of something you won't use.

I have heard both sides of the argument of NudeNic versus everyone and honestly, I tried DIYflavorshack, WizardLabs and MyFreedomSmokes nicotine and found them all to be flavorless. No peppery taste, or any taste. Then I heard the argument that NudeNic comes with a certificate of purity. I looked at their online certificate and they say their nicotine is 99.96% pure. Then I looked at MyFreedomsmokes because I just bought a liter from them, and their certificate says they use 99.97% pure.
So for me it came down to cost. MFS was $50 for 100 mg liter versus Nude Nicotine costing $105 for 100 mg 1 liter. Now I have a liter of MFS in the freezer and in two weeks will order another liter.
