Nicotine is an excellent medication for any neurological disorder that responds well to stimulant medication, current options like Adderall and Ritalin are not well tolerated by some people and caffiene has limited effectiveness due to how it works and has negative effects on the kidneys and liver.
Wellbutrin and Strattera are offered as indirect stimulant meds (nor-adrenalin levels increased) but come with side effects that can be unpleasant and even dangerous for some people (more-so on Strattara than Wellbutrin, Wellbutrin is the only anti depressant class med that DOESN'T cause sexual dysfunction).
Imagine Nicorette gum in the classroom for ADD kids, kind of off the wall but theoretically effective.
There is the aspect of nicotine being addictive but every med I listed here has the potential for dependancy or cannot be stopped abruptly with out consequence, the key would be thereputic dosages and close monitoring by medical professionals as is the standard for the current options.
