The question is:

Can you taste nicotine in certain vendors more than others? i.e. they don't do a good mix or add enough flavour or ...

Background:

Got a few sampler packs from various vendors. Some good some bad (or not for me).

For the Indigo ones, I get a hint of flavor and just a lot of nicotine/fizzy something taste and can barely taste the flavours. I know its not vapor tongue as other vendor ones are fine. They've been steeping for six weeks plus. All samplers same nic strength.

It worries me that I can mainly taste nic/fizz. Even if I drop the nic content (am ready for less than my first batch of samplers) I'm not ready to plonk down nearly $10 for a 15mil bottle if they will have the same taste problem at lower nic levels.

I know they seem to get a lot of good reviews, but I'm not so sure based on this experience.

Yes, what nic level do are you using? Also, I'm a HUGE Indigo fan, but you MUST let them get 7-10 days old (at least) before you can judge. I find that their flavors really mellow at about a month. As an FYI, I am very sensitive to nicotine (or something) in my vape juice--I have no idea what it is but no matter the vendor, after a while (usually a couple of days), I do get a burning sensation. Doesn't matter if I'm vaping 12mg or 18mg nic, it always happens. When I begin to notice it, I switch my flavors up.

eta: sorry, I see you've let them steep a bit...I've come to the conclusion that when people have issues with juices (especially the more favorably reviewed ones), there's something in the PG/VG bases or flavor extractions that is causing it. I've learned how to handle my own situation--sometimes I even pop a benadryl. For me, there is no choice as I get this sensation with literally every vendor I've tried (roughly 10 different ones). My only option if I wanted to avoid it is to not vape and either smoke or quit cold turkey, neither of which is going to happen. So I vape and deal... ;)

I'm at 18, but all the other vendors at 18 are ok, I'm probs ganna drop to 12 anyways over time. Come to mention it, Indigo did send me one freebie at 12 and I actually loved it (the duchess).

I've tried up to 30 indigo flavors, and close to 70 other vendor ones (over 8 weeks), its only the indigo's that have that fizz taste.

Maybe tis the 'mellowing' after a month alisa1970 points to. They just seem weak flavour and a bunch of fizz or nic. Oh well I have 70 other samplers from other vendors to keep me going.

Interesting that if their flavors do mellow, then maybe not for me as I tend to have lots of bottle sitting around for weeks at a time. I might go a 12 duchess and maybe one of the other top flavours and see - if they too mellow out over time, then I might shop elsewhere if they fade.

I don't notice any fizzy taste, but they may not be for you. I've only been able to make mine last for a couple of months--the flavors blend but for me don't fade. Kind of like when you make something for dinner and you can taste all the ingredients, but the next day they've all blended and mellowed (for lack of a better word). Good luck, and it sounds like you've got plenty of other juice to choose from if they don't work for you. I will be happy to take them off your hands if it comes down to that. :D

You may be tasting a component in their nicotine base or their flavoring base if it is just the one vendor. I have found that there are certain vendors that I do not like the taste of their juice, period. There is another vendor that I think all their juices are over flavored. That is my taste. Even though many friends love it. And I found out I can not vape anything with cinnamon or vanilla custard in it because I am sensitive to it. So a lot of times it is an individual thing.

Best thing to do is get small bottles to use until you know what you like and what agrees with you. Sounds like you have plenty of choices to play with.

There are many suppliers of nicotine bases used in making e-juice. The flavor of the nicotine will vary widely between these suppliers and producers. However, if you are using a flavored juice the flavoring will mask or completely hide the nicotine taste most of the time.

A top quality nicotine base will have a very subtle flavor of it's own. Some of the poor quality nicotines will have a stronger peppery taste or other off-flavors. Unflavored nicotine is my favorite. I'm very aware of it's taste. With unflavored juice it is very difficult if not impossible to taste good nicotine at strengths of less than 12mg.

I can definitely taste the nicotine more in some vendors than in others. I think that I am just more sensitive to the flavor of nicotine. Many friends of mine cannot taste it at all but I can almost always taste it. Some vendors use a more pungent nicotine. It can still have superior quality, it is just a stronger nicotine flavor. I do not like the strong nicotine flavor myself. I am a fan of the more delicate flavors. Some people love the more robust nicotine flavor- it can add depth to the other flavorings. And them some people cannot taste it at all. It just depends on your personal tastes and how sensitive you are to it.
Good luck!!

What brand do you use that is hard to taste at less than 12mg? I would love to get some and try it! I usually vape 18mg however if it is hardly noticeable at 12mg I could probably tolerate it at higher strengths....
