Dreams and nightmares are a common occurrence for people quitting things. When a drug addict quits using their drug of choice one of the side effects of withdrawal is vivid dreams. As stated above it’s your brains way of working through problems. In your case quitting cigarettes. I think it’s less to do about nicotine but your body’s withdrawal from the thousands of other chemicals that are in the cigarettes.

A certain amount of dreams and nightmares are normal. It could be nicotine near bed, or it could just be for quitting. When I was quitting, I vaped up until bedtime but any dreams I encountered I kind of blamed on quitting, not vaping. They did go away (I'm not a huge remember-er of dreams to begin with) and I continued to vape normally.

If they are really bothering you, you could try stopping vaping and using 0 or lower nic a few hours before bed to see if it helps. Best of luck,

Anna

I've only heard of it linked to the patch, if left on for 24 hours as directed. Since the patch is my LEAST favorite "harm reduction pharmaceutical option," I don't worry about it, but I've only heard the vivid nightmare thing from leaving the patch ON all night.

By the time you get to "dream" sleep, if you give yourself a small window of not vaping, I'd think most of the nicotine would be cleared from your system, anyway. You could try it. You may have continued nightmares for a bit due to quitting.... What you aren't getting from vaping is clearing out of your system, and MAY well be the cause.

To find out which it is, you could try a tank of WTA (whole tobacco alkaloid juice, contains some things found in tobacco besides nicotine but still fairly safe, as my understanding is the alkaloids themselves aren't harmful with good quality WTA) and try to vape a little bit of it before bed. If it eases your nightmares, you will know if it's the nicotine, or just the quit. I used WTA during the throes of detox and it helped (me) a lot (with all my detox symptoms) and I think I would have had a harder time without it. Of course, your other option is simply to power through what is happening, and I have a feeling the vivid dreams will subside.

Good luck,

Anna

Hey guys,
I've been vaping for a few months and lately I noticed I get very vivid dreams if I vape with nicotine before bed. I lowered my dose from 6 to 3mg. Is this low enough? I really hate to give up vaping before bed.
Welcome and glad you joined.
Might be caused by many reasons. If condition persists, maybe a doctor visit is in order.
