So I got a nimbus RDA and did a duel coils(.6 ohms, nano coil) set up on it. The coils fire from the middle out to both sides. It gets super hot after one drag. I don't know if it's the duel coils or it's shorting out. Any help would be great, thank you. Mod carvela clone Sony vtc4 18650 and the nimbus with holes drilled out to 1/16. side note: I got the nimbus in trade from a guy at work, so it' s not new to me if that matters.

i have a nimbus and it gets real hot during low ohm chain vapes... even if you drill bigger air holes it will still get hot... just the way it goes... you can get a patriot rda or a tugboat rda that dissipates heat better because of the fins on the top cap... thin walled top caps '( like nimbus clone)can generate alot of heat pretty fast thicker walled rdas can help a bit with heat build up ...

I'm vaping a dual coil Trident clone at 0.5 ohms (two 1 ohm micro coils) and I have to do a lot of chain vaping before the RDA gets hot. If yours is getting real hot after one drag, something is wrong. 1 mm air holes are on the small side for 0.6 ohms, but not enough to do this.

Look for a short. Check the resistance at the 510 connection on the RDA or the positive post to a negative post. Does that read 0.6 ohms? Make sure no part of the coils are touching any part of the RDA other than their mount points in the posts.

ETA: Is the top of the mod getting as hot as the RDA? If so it could be a partial short in the mod's 510 connection and be coming from there.

I used my small I go and my rsst on the mod and they both work fine the mod does not get hot but when I use the nimbus it just gets hot I pulled both coils out and am going to get more wire in the morning and try it again

So the mod is OK. Now you just need to figure out if the problem is the build in the Nimbus or the Nimbus itself has a short.

When you pull the coils, check the resistance between the positive post and both the negative posts. There must be no continuity between them. On my meter that's a blank screen. So, whatever you see without the probes touching each other, you need to see the same thing when probing the positive and both negative posts.

If you get a resistance reading there, don't build it until you fix that :thumb:
