It's basically un-vape-able. This is my first rebuildable, and I've read many articles and watched many tutorials. I can make a pretty decent coil. but I went on ahead and ordered a pack of pre made 1.5 ohm coils. Even when I use these to make a dual or even quad coil (quad coil once on my igo-w) the vapor is nothing at all like what I see these people doing in videos. Its basically like theres hardly any vapor. Earlier today I had the worst dry hit I've ever had, and I thought I was going to die. After messing around with this stuff for the past few weeks, I decided It was time I should make a post here and see if anyone can possibly help a desperate man trying to witness the dripping method, and to be able to enjoy it.

So on my dual coil on my nimbus, It shows at 1.64 ohms. The coils are not in contact with any part of the nimbus, or itself - both coils look like they are in a good place and that it should work fine. I have only used kenthal wicks, but I have a few organic cotton ballz upstairs that I got out to give a shot with here in a bit. So once I drop the juice on the wick, I fire it up and its just like the most thin looking vapor ive ever seen comes out, and if I try to inhale it, it is either way too hot, or it is completely awful and I cant do it anymore. Ive invested a bit of time into this, and a bit of money, and I just want to be able to witness the world of dripping, and even better yet, the world of dripping on a rebuildable!

Please help me, anyone! I am desperate here. I wish there was someone here who could work with me in person. I appreciate your time in reading this, and I look forward to any responses that may be able to help!

Hey guys, I will do my best and upload a pic of it shortly, actually probably tomorrow. My phone is dead and charging, but I will get some pics up here asap! I appreciate the responses so far, and I am looking forward to getting these pics up for more help!

I meant kenthal wire and scilica wick, im sorry about that!

Common reasons for dry hit:

1. Your wick density through the coil is too tight or too loose. To tight and the juice gets choked, to loose and she can't wick enough.
2. Possibly a hot spot in coil. If the wire wraps are not consistent, and have a loose wrap, can cause a hot spot that will produce dry hits.

The main thing to look at is your wick densities. Are you free hand wrapping coils or using a micro coil? I use primarily micro coils in all my builds. Micro's produce a consistent, easy to be competent at build. Cotton wicks better than silica, but takes some time to get the densities down. Personally prefer degummed hemp fiber for wicks.

I prefer tanked rba's over drippers. Have a nimbus, works fine, but don't use it, pita to drip. lol. Plus my rba tanks way out perform the Nimbus.

Okay everyone, I'm sorry about the delay. Here are the pics of the coils Ive made that did work, but just worked awfully. Thank you and I look forward to everyones assistance, and hopefully I can get the help I need and improve this thing so that it works like it should!

As of now, its basically impossible to vape from. The amount of vapor is so small and thin, and it is too harsh to vape.

Could be that your wick is not making good contact with the coils. Pre-made coils are not really good IMHO, usually poor grade nichrome wire.

Make a coil with 28 Gauge Kanthal resistance wire: 9 Wraps around a 5/64 drill bit. Scrunch the coil together with your nails, make an identical coil for the other side. Should be about .5-.6 Ohms when both are installed. Wick the coils with organic cotton. See the rebuilding forum section for more details.

I've been using my nimbus for about a week and have experimented will all kinds of coils and resistances and I've found what works best is a single parallel coil with 24 Guage kanthal at around .3-.4 ohms. Anything higher than that has been totally weak sauce. I'm also using organic cotton which wicks the best and has the best flavor imo. And I'm using a high drain battery (Sony vtc4) which gives it that extra punch. Rip Trippers has a nice tutorial video on YouTube on how to build this coil. Hope this helps!

maybe be it's just me but IMO those coils look like crap. My guess would be your getting hot spots. Wrap some new coils and dry burn them to make sure they heat up from the center to the outside with no spots. Also build them tight together without overlapping wraps as it will cause a short. You should also try to keep the coils as close to the posts as possible. Another thing is wrap your coils then try to slip your wick through after you've dry burned and pinched coils to remove those hot spots. Give it a try and report back with the results. Good luck

Suggesting sub ohm's to a n00b(no offense) is not a good idea... Sounds like the OP is using a regulated PV so it may not even fire at that.

Yeah I realize that... But I just wanted to point out that anything other than sub ohming on this device is just not gonna cut it. I mean unless he's got a variable wattage device that he can crank to like 12 to 15 watts he's not gonna get a good vape.

I use a Nimbus. The holes should be right over the coils. The Nimbus holes are very small so keeping them directly over the coils is a must.
I use a Spire VV mod (USA made) and it can vape down to 1.0 ohm. I get a great throat hit and big vapor from my 1.3 to 1.6 ohm coils using 18 mg liquid. I hit mine like I hit a real cig (when I smoked) and it works perfect. I could never get into the direct lung inhales. I use this to replace cigarettes not weed lol

I configure my Nimbus with a single 1.4Ohm, 30ga., coil using cotton yarn for wicking material. I hate silica and cotton ball strips didn't wick well enough with the build. I loop the wick on the coil side of the deck and leave the non-coil side open. The wick ends lay between the two posts. This method creates a small reservoir of juice on the open side of the deck and the wick pulls juice as needed. On a non-regulated mech it produces fantastic flavor and vapor. ...better than either of my Kayfuns. I'll post a picture of my build later today.

You might consider just starting over - I've had to a few times - no biggie . Clean out everything.

Using just the base - Assemble one coil - measure resistance - if OK - pulse fire it to see if it glows properly - if it does let it cool - wick with whatever you have (silica/cotton/cotton yarn/ekowool/etc) - saturate wick and coil with 100% VG.

I would then fire mine with the cap off to see vapor production - you may not want to do this since hot juice will spit out and can cause burns. If not put cap on an Vape at 8(?) watts it should produce good vapor. If it does try again with your juice.

If all works well go back clean up and install second coil.

I have built and used a wide variety of coils and using different techniques and materials: from macro/micro/nano kanthal tight coils to kanthal/nichrome loose wrapped coils (using a 4-40 screw most of the time). From .3 ohms to 3 ohms

I have also used pre-made coils Nichrome loose wrapped and loose wrapped coils using NR-R-NR.

All of these coil types and materials and resistance values have worked well for me. Some work better in some applications.

It is all about the build, wicking, airflow, juice and voltage applied across the coil. Allot of trial and error to match these variables
for the result you are looking for, but any properly built and assembled coil can produce good vapor/flavor.

Hope this helps and no offense intended if I talked down to you in anyway - we are all of different experiences and capabilities and I do not know yours - only sharing on what I would try if my build does not work - this approach may or may not work for you.
