Ok so I've gotten really into vaping lately and have decided to try out mechanical...

I picked up a Vented Telescope Zmax mod and a Nimbus Rebuildable atomizer.

I went with a simple 4 wrap dual coil build my fist time and it hit so hard I couldn't stop coughing. So I rebuilt it again this time trying to really wrap the wick tight and its a little better it just still hits really hard. Any suggestions here?

I attached a pic of my build right after I soaked it and took a hit, I know it isn't great but im hoping it will help...

Thanks guys

I will assume you are using cotton. You have to wait for the cotton to soak the juice up first. I would give it 5 or ten minutes to soak first. Next is coil placement. You want the air hole pointing at the coil. Also keep your coil the same level as the airhole. Another thing. Fire it without the cap. After saturating and waiting for the wick to soak. Do any coils or any part of the wire turn red while firing? If so that would be the reason for the really harsh hit. Btw what batteries are you using and what ohms was your coil?

What are the ohms of your build? If they are low you may need to open up your airholes more. Airflow plays an important part when you start getting into low and sub ohms. Also, if you're using cotton or any type of wick for that matter your wick should not be pinched at all in your coil. It should slide through pretty easily and so shouldn't be wrapped tight yet still have good wick to wire contact. Make sure your coils light up evenly without any hotspots. Like the previous poster said make sure your airhole lines up with your coil

The most important thing to have when getting into building coils is an Ohmmeter. It can be any type, Digital Multimeter, Standalone Ohmmeter or even a VV/VW device like the Itaste line. It may be that 2 coils of 4 wraps is going really, really low in the resistance. There is no mention here of wire gauge, coil size, coil method... so many variables. It's best to measure the resistance and know.

Not knowing can be very dangerous. If your resistance is very low, and your battery is not rated at a high enough amperage, you run the risk of it literally exploding. Not a little fizzzzz...pop. But KABOOM.. no lips or teeth left in your face.

Please be careful. Have fun, learn... find your sweet spot.. but most of all, be careful.
