The instruction manual says 15 Days for replacement and 12 months for repair.

Either the store should be able to tell you where to send it for repair or be able to send it in for you if it's beyond the store's generous 90-day warranty.

Failing that, you can send an email to service@nitecore.com

Hope that helps.

i have the i2 and the i4.

also have a vp2 that's not pictured.

i typically use and highly recommend the vp line. they're the most accurate and reliable with the safest charge cycles.

by all means, try to get yours fixed since you already have it.

The charge rate probably has nothing to do with the units failure. The VP4 does charge at 1A when using bay 1 and 4 only. It will default to either 250/500mAh when charging 3 or more batteries. It is a nice charger, though I have the VP2 the VC2, and two D2's, and an i2, I may still buy the VP4. xtar chargers are made well and worth the money.

The vp4 says the outer slots go to 1a and inner are .25 or .50

I have AW regular 18350 18490 and 18650. With the nitecore I just plopped them in and let it do whatever. I think the most I saw was 750 then it would drop from there. Should I have been choosing a lower rate?
To keep the charger working? No... it does what it does.

But once you get your xtar, I would definitely charge those 18350 batts @ .25 for a longer life. I wouldn't charge the 18490s @ over .5 unless absolutely necessary, either.

If you're picking up the vp4, you're definitely going to like it. It's a nice unit for sure.

Shame. I would have really liked to see you get a better charger after the best that nitecore has to offer failed on you.

Both my i2 and my i4 have their glitches.

In your case with the smaller batteries especially, the better charger would likely turn out to be more economical in the long run. They put less stress on the batteries both by offering a lower amp charge rate and by starting the charge cycle at lower amperage and ramping up slowly instead of jolting the cell as soon as it's connected.

Let alone the failure rate and lack of safety features on the nitecores.

For example... any vp charger just won't charge if you put the battery in backwards. Nitecore... probably toast.

The readout is barely a consideration when I choose a charger. I bought my nitecores because of price and high recommendations here coupled with the fact they charge AA and AAA batteries. So I still use them. But i have chargers that I can count on and that care for my batteries instead of something I plug in the wall that provides juice for my lithium cells.

Because... later on... I found the reviews and tests done on most of the chargers available by people who knew their stuff. The choice at that time was obvious. Get something good or wind up stuck one day.

So I went overboard... BUT! I have a use for every one of the 5 different chargers I own. And where I simply cannot have something fail... in my big rig... I have an xtar charger. Not only so the charger doesn't fail... but so it doesn't kill my batteries while I'm stranded on the open road.

When you get a chance, check out hkj and his charger reviews on candlepower forums and on his site. Then... if your new nitecore ever fails, do yourself a favor and get something you can rely on and don't have to babysit.

Good luck. Hope all works out for the best.

Hi!
I need some opinions on the Xtar MC1 or MC2, it's a cheaper and simpler version :)
Uses a micro USB for charging (like android chargers)
I'm sure they're fine. Xtar has quite the reputation for its chargers. Though I can't speak from experience. I recommend you start your own thread with the models in the title for answers from folks who've used them.

HKJ on the Candle Power Forum does excellent reviews. He reviewed both of these chargers, I'd do a quick search and read both reviews. I don't have either, though I do have a VP2, VC2, and a XP1 all made by XTAR. THE VC2 and XP1 are USB charger's and both work great. The VP2 is a different beast altogether, selectable charge rates, LCD, and indicator lights to show when charge has completed. They're all good charger's.
