First off....Are the batteries installed correctly? The "spring-back" slide is the (-) terminal....
Check for any corrosin/gunk on the battery AND charger terminals....clean with alcohol/Q-tip....
If you can....try other batteries (it will charge several types....) and see if the problem still exists...
If known good batteries react the same way.....then, yeah, I'd guess your i2 is zonked....
Just got my i2 a couple of days ago....and have only charged 2 AW IMR 18650 1600mAH....so far, so good....:)
When you say ".....24 hours of not being charged..." i assume you mean you've USED them for 24 hours....not just let them sit....
Good Luck!
Happy (vaping) Trails!

I don't know exactly where you are going with this. If you mean you charged your batteries, took them out, didn't use them, and 24 hours later they... don't need a charge - because you didn't use them. Well then no - they wouldn't need charging and the charger is reacting accordingly. Then again, until/unless you get a DVM to see what the battery voltages are, your question - and this answer - are nothing but idle speculation.

Go get a meter.

Try this, take a small slip of paper and fold it several times and put it into the charger bay such that the positive end of the battery is raised slightly. This will cause the battery positive terminal to make contact with the metal plate of the charger at a different point.

Somehow, the charger reads the battery as having a full charge if the positive battery terminal makes contact at certain points on the charger's metal contact. I've seen this issue with other chargers too. It happens regardless of the type of battery inserted, 18650,18350, AA, AAA, etc.

As for the safety of it, I'll let someone else chime in. My suggestion is only a temporary measure. I haven't found the cause for it. And yes, the metal contacts are clean.

I've run into that with my Nitecore i4. Just tonight I put in 4 18350s that I had on my to be charged shelf. One of the bays showed that the battery was fully charged, but when I checked it in my mod, it was 3.5v. I think my i2 did it a few times as well. The funny thing is my little Xtar M-something, that only charges 2 18350s (nothing bigger) has never had a problem.

Try placing the positive side of the battery slightly elevated or to the side such that it touches a different part of the metal plate on the charger. It has solved the same problem I had on nitecore i2 and other chargers which I've seen.

Ok first off, yes the batteries are inserted correctly. When I say that they have been off charge for 24 hours I mean they showed full charge and have been used within that 24 hour period. I checked the batteries this morning with a meter, they show 3.19 and 3.05. I checked the charger and it is showing an output of 5.26 without a battery in a bay. I suspect this may be a problem.

Problem solved. It was the charger, my local B&M where I bought it saw my post on FB and messaged me to bring everything in this morning so they could replace all of it free of charge! WOOT WOOT for them. We went through everything and they felt it was nothing other than the charger. We all noticed the I2 was making a swooshing sound ( sounded like water running through the pipes in a house) while plugged in.
