OP: i posted this in your other thread, but it's probably more appropriate here...

I don't use an Nitecore, but i've always heard that they are good chargers...

This is a little off topic, but since you bought a Nitecore and seeing that going mech may eventually lead you to Sony VTC batteries, i'm fairly sure you'll want an answer to this as well.

I was at a venders site looking at Sony VTC4 and noticed the following note: "Note: For safety reasons, we recommend customers do not charge this battery in Nitecore Intellichargers. We highly suggest users only use xtar brand chargers that are compatilbe for this type of battery as xtar's can handle the charging load. Please reference your chargers manual to ensure compatability."

Does anyone know why a Nitecore shouldn't be used for VTC4s? This is more out of curiousity than anything else because VTCs are very popular and I happen to use them as well...

because some people believe retailer claims. these claims are B. O. L. O. G. N. A., BTW.

my nitecore i2 and i4 charge my VTC4 cells just fine as evidenced by my custom doohickey and DMM.

in stark contrast with vaperev's claims, the nitecore chargers actually do charge each cell individually. this is evidenced by the fact that i can put LiMn (4.2V @ full charge) cells in any bay and NiMh cells in any bay (1.5V @ full charge) and have accurately charged cells @ the proper voltage for their corresponding chemistry when the charge terminates every time.

here's a prior conversation on the topic... http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/batteries-chargers/552330-vaperev-nitecore-i4-sony-vtc4.html

vaperev is talking out their rears to push a different product. why? i could only speculate. i don't know for sure. i know not their incentives.

I've been using the Nitecore i2 for several months without issue. I use Sony VTC4/5 batteries exclusively in my mechanical mods, the Nitecore has been working flawlessly so far. I bought my fiance one at the same time, she uses AW and Efest batteries and has never had an issue either. I check battery voltage before and after each charge, I'm more than satisfied with the chargers performance.

As far as a vendor recommending a specific charger for a battery, I don't want to speculate on their motives.

Wish I would have seen this as you posted it. The i2 charger is bad, however the i4 is great. When I first got into vaping I got the i2 and worked fine at first. Checked my voltage after every charge and at first 4.2 volts every single time. Was sporting at the time 2 AW IMR 18650 2000mah batteries. Using one and charging the other. One cycle I noticed it was taking forever to charge a battery. I decided to pull it off and check the voltage and it was 4.8 volts. Yep you read that right 4.8 volts checked many times with different meters. Now I spent weeks debating this in town, and in forums. I wish I would have taken a picture of it is my only regret, but it did happen. Through local shops and online forums the charger was deemed bad and that the i2's had issues, but the i4's don't have the problems. Bought the i4 and had it for over a year now with no problems. Now I am using my Efest LUC 2 port charger more than the i4, but I still have NiCads that I have to charge so the i4 will always have a home. Hope this helps, and check your voltages.

You may have just got a bad one, who knows?

I have two of the i2 chargers that are used daily, they both work flawlessly. I think they are a good, solid charger, based on my experience.
