NJ lawmaker seeks to limit electronic cigarettes | AP | 10/06/2009

I love this quote

It's dangerous," Wagner said, noting that electronic cigarettes have been found to contain harmful chemicals. "I have to make sure our children are protected."

How sweet. The guy wants to protect the children from buying a $200 Smoking Everywhere kit or a $149.00 e-pipe online using mommy or daddys credit card.

SJ, can you install a puke smiley?

Interesting article. Why does everyone think that only children like flavors?? I find this so ridiculous. And why ban then in workplaces? Do all the children in NJ go to work with their parents?

I think these government agencies should take a new approach and start fining the ***** out of the parents whose kids are using cigarettes and what not while leaving the rest of us the alone. I'm tired of being held accountable for other peoples children.

Next we wont be able to drive cars because kids below the driving age might be interested in driving and that could be hazardous.

Any woo, I'm going to go make dinner in my carcenogenic tephlon frying pan, which apparently is okay to collect carcengens from. And before I go to bed tonight, I'm going to have a glass of water (I find this super couragous since water is found in Anti-freeze) and then I will brush my teeth with toothpaste which contains dangerous chemicals also found in those darn e-cigs. 8-o

Electronic cigarettes are not a safe alternative to regular cigarettes, according to Russell Sciandra, a tobacco policy specialist with the American Cancer Society.
"We don't know anything about them - that's the problem," Sciandra said. "We don't know what's in these things."
Yes that is the problem, he doesn't know anything about them, and doesn't know what's in them, yet he makes the bold claim that they are NOT a safe alternative to regular cigarettes.

The more people of this caliber they have on their side the better for us.

Yes. Let's do have a discussion regarding flavors.

How about the discussion that children's tylenol comes in a yummy bubblegum flavor?

If anyone is marketing flavors to children, it is the pharmaceutical industry doing so. They are programming children from an early age to enjoy taking medicines, whether they need them or not.

I see that these evil devices now contain "several" toxic chemicals according to that report...

But I do understand how flavours like strawberry can be a "gateway" to flavours like tobacco...

strawberry >>> tobacco...it's a natural progression...

.

Yes it is. I got started on my 2 pack a day Marlboro habit by way of eating pints of Ben and Jerrys strawberry flavored ice cream. 8-o

As a kid I used to sneak cherry cough lozenges out of my parents medicine cabinet because they tasted so much like candy..and dont get me started on the flavored Nyquil (not to mention it containing alcohol) it was like liquid candy with a weird aftertaste.

My choice from the medicine cabinet (which was above the fridge by the way): Children's chewable tylenol. It was just like candy. Mmmmm....

Why isnt the FDA worried about kids flocking in herds to get that Cinnamon Nicorette Gum? Then they can get both the nicotine of a cig and flavoring that of course only appeals to children. Why did the FDA even let this travesty on the market?!?!? I'm shocked since cinnamon obviously has no appeal to adults, meaning the pharmaceutical companies are targeting children by adding flavors to a device that has nicotine in it!!!

It's ridiculous isn't it? How about the Fruit Blast nicotine gum? What is that!?! It sounds like a bubblegum flavor on the instant gratification shelf in the checkout... Oh wait... it is!

There is no way around it... their philosophy regarding kids and flavorings is an odd one and frankly, by putting the word "kid", or any derivative of it, into propaganda... it scares people.... and they know this.

Too bad they don't go after child predators who steal children, rape and murder them instead of some small business who wants to offer an adult an alternative to cigarette smoking

And you are right... the cinnamon flavored nicorette is horrid. I'd rather have ashtray mouth. :)
