I just wanted to share, as so many others have, how absolutely amazed I am by this little gadget. After getting my replacement parts from LF on Saturday morning (looks like a bad charger ruined my first two batteries), I started up again and haven't had a single urge to smoke a real cigarette.

I did NOT want to quit smoking, but knew I had to. I'm very overweight (though I'm working on that, too...50 lbs. gone so far!), and I'm on birth control pills for medical reasons...and I'm 37. My doctor told me about a lady just a few years older than me, in similar shape and on pills for similar reasons, who died of a massive pulmonary embolism just after she started seeing him. I knew the risks, but hearing that really prompted me to do something. So here I am, vaping away like a madwoman! :p

A friend stopped by earlier, and I took one drag off her cigarette just to see what it tasted like. Ugh! Terrible! So funny how quickly they start to taste bad. I also didn't wake up wheezing this morning! vaping does seem to make me a bit tight-lunged, especially if I get a really strong hit, but it's temporary and overall, my breathing is already better.

I am recommending this to all my friends who smoke and haven't been able to kick it. Heck, if I can do it this easily and had no urge to quit--anyone can! Thanks to everyone here who helped me out with newbie questions...you guys have been great. :)

January sun - heavy duty stuff there. You're doing fantastic. I gotta agree with you it is sooooooo easy with an e cig.

I am very pleased for you. I too tried an analog after 10 days of vaping and was staggered to find just how disgusting it was. I was a bit nervous trying it because i thought i'd want another one. But i couldn't even smoke half of it. It was too much. It completely overwhelmed my mouth and senses. I hated it. I am so lucky to have escaped it. And i'm so glad i hear of others doing the same.
You are taking control now. You are in the driving seat.

Hi JanuarySun,
So glad you have had a positive experience, it is incredible how easy these things can make quitting.... I am already starting to reduce my nic level after a couple of months vaping and believe me, how good you feel now is just the beginning :)

I haven't had the guts to try a puff on an analog at all, scared I might like it :) But why would I want to when I can be vaping all these wonderful flavors....

Good luck on your journey and I hope you don't end up bankrupting yourself trying everything new that comes out, like I have.. but hey, I'm healthier.

Welcome to the forum.

I may have to reduce mine already! I'm using 24mg primarily, and I'm getting a few heart palpitations and a headache at the end of the day, so I figure I can drop down to at least 18mg for the moment. I have read that e-cigs might not deliver nicotine into the body to the degree that analogs do, but I have my doubts about that. I haven't had a single twitchy craving at all, and I don't believe that's all psychological.

WTG. Drink more water and drop the nic level. Keep the 24mg around in case you get the urge. I'm finding that strong nic in the morning tapering during the day and lighter at night works best for me. YMMV but it keeps me from getting the headaches at night and the dry throat in the morning. It's amazing how fast you can turn the nic level down because you don't realize how much you're vaping. Originally I was going to vape only when I would have an analog, but that went out the window when I got into the flavors. It was easy to turn the nic level down once I start vaping more and getting the flavors I really enjoy.

No, Jan. Sun (that is something we don't have in Illinois--sun in January) it is not psychological. I was not trying to quit--an e cig pop up on my Yahoo home page piqued my interest so I started site searching, came across ECF and read, read, read. Got my e cig and have not lit a tobacco cigarette since--did not mean to quit--vaping just tasted so much better to me. Good luck on your new vaping experience--I am already down to 4 mg nic and even some 0 nic. And it still tastes delicious to me after 8 months. And also congrats on the weight loss--keep it up!!

That may be exactly what I need to do, too. I vape really heavily the first couple or three hours after I wake up, and then it slows down. So I think you're onto something, there.

Congrats and yes anyone can but not everyone does! Even vaping is not a magic bullet for eveyone across the board so encourage your friends certainly--just within reason. I love vaping now after taking awhile to learn whats what and truly enjoy it and am smoking way less without trying but I haven't quit altogether. I still want to smoke same as before, just don't need to as often. And unfortunately they aren't more gross now etc either. And I know I am not alone.

Frankly, I'm pretty certain I have a dependence on the other alkaloids in tobacco beside just nicotine to say nothing of the other chems but this definitely depends on ones chemistry, brain and otherwise.

Anyway, congrats and I don't mean to take away from your accomplishment and success I just found myself really discouraged at first when it felt like everyone but me was picking up a PV and suddenly flushing their cigs in astonishment. So other new members like me just keep it up best you can and every cig you don't smoke is a victory!

Same basic story from me. A month ago I jumped right in with an 1100mah EGO battery kit and some 510 dual coil cartos. Quit analogs instantly. I've smoked three since. 1 out of curiosity of if I was missing something or if it was really just that easy and two when my battery has lost charge at the smoking area at work :(. They honestly don't do anything for me that vaping doesn't fulfill. Plus vaping tastes better, my lungs feel better, and all the other advantages. I'm definitely a convert and I've helped my parents and a friend at work to switch.

The toughest (and most expensive) part for me has been buying liquids from different places to figure out what I like. The advice here definitely helps. Geoff's Blend from TV (can't beat the price when ordering in bulk w/ the 4 oz doubler) and FrostFire from IVape (surprising since I wasn't at all a menthol smoker) have been the main two I've settled on with others as a change of pace.
