Like Fmx, I had a nasty cough from a bronchial infection a couple of weeks before I quit cigs and went to vaping.

I didn't get any of the coughing or phlegm either after quitting the real thing. Seems like I should have, since I smoked a couple packs a day for the last 40 some odd years.

Oh, I know......it was because I smoked the "safer" light cigs. Oh, wait, there is no safer cig. Never mind.

Thanks for the replies.

Do any of you still feel the odd familiar lung pain? I do. I don't know if its still lingering from the damage already done or if its something new that feels the same as the old pain I'm accustomed to.

I realize that its only been a short time since I stopped smoking and maybe I should expect this kind of thing at least for a short while. Just wanted to know what others' experiences were.

Thanks,

Rob

This happened years ago when I quit smoking for 6 months - no cleanout cough, no phlegm - nothing

Again, I'm not smoking, and again I haven't had "the cough". Shouldn't this be happening? Does this mean my lungs aren't clearing out the crap?

I've been vaping about 2 months now and have had very little of such a cough either (I was PAD smoker of Marlboro menthols). Some mornings I have a slight cough and a tiny bit of phlegm (what a wonderful topic) but have not gotten "the cough".

However, I do still smoke 2-3 analogs per day. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Maybe your body doesn't need to cough it up? All of us are different in how our bodies handle things. Some folks chain smoke their whole lives and never get lung cancer and some folks have never smoked, and still gotten it. *shrug* I'd count your blessings. Sounds like you aren't missing out on much, well, except for that biore strips "ewwww" effect. :)

I smoked for 30+ years and then vaped and smoked for about 2 months and then totally switched to vaping September 2010. I had a cough for about 3 weeks and then it went away.

I still cough, but rarely and it is certainly nothing like the coughing that i did with analogs. I never experienced the lung pain that you mentioned.

Another haven't-hacked-my-lungs-out person -- I feel like I'm missing something :)

Seriously, after 35 years of PAD smoking I was just started to get a periodic light cough, I think it disappeared within a week of switching to vaping. I kept pretty active all those years, hiking, running, etc., which I expect at least partially offset the butts.

I've had the standard hoarseness (body's reminder to drink more water -- PG and VG are humectants), but that's about it.
