I'd let them know we were going to dine there..but that policy lost them our business.

A local grocery store in my area now has stickers on their front doors that state "no smoking, e-cigs, electronic cigarettes, and vaping allowed in the store for the comfort of other customers". I guess they covered all the basis on that
Sadly, I won't visit any establishment that has that sign or a "NO GUNS ALLOWED" sign. Just can't give them my business.
I like it that it's always about "the comfort of others". How about mine....
Yes, but you're a nice person, Ginny. You know there are always that ten percent who ruin it for everyone -- that's probably the reason for the ban; not that nice normal people would cloud the place, but that the idiots and {Moderated} would cause such a problem, they have to ban it to everyone.
Not that I agree, I think it's a stupid policy, but the world is filled with stupid people, and the stupid ones who would blow massive clouds in a restaurant are the ones that really caused this. Oh, and the even-more-stupid ones who think vaping and smoking are the same thing.

yeah truth, I try to be considerate when I can. I think we'll see a whole lot more of these, it's going to be one of those "vape only where you could smoke" kind of things.
it's that way at a hospital a friend of ours is at (he's still in the hospital since a motorcycle accident 9/6/14) and the guard sees me coming we've had little rounds about how I'm NOT going to go to the smokers covey (it's crammed pack full of the patients too and I REEK and cough when I have to go there to vape) they have cams in the room so I go "pee" a lot when we visit him for long periods *lol* no cams in the bathroom..neener *lol*

Ya then go in and order and then start to vape and when they say the sign says no E-cigs allowed, politely say this is not an e-cig it is a PV and the sign does not specify no vaping. Then when they tell you that you can't vape, gather your things and say well if I knew that I would never have come in and leave without paying LOL!

Heh, I always go in the bathroom to vape, when I visit my mom at a hospital; she always has a private room. I'm hoping she can manage to avoid it for a while, though the fluid seems to be building up again, in her lungs -- she won't take her Lasix properly, since it makes her need diapers, which she refuses on principle. Can't blame her for feeling that way, it's a bit humiliating, but given a choice between legs like tree trunks and fluid in the lungs vs Lasix and diapers... I'd be all over the Lasix and diapers!
But no one can tell her anything, not even her doctor. So I fully expect she'll be back in the hospital with a catheter and 4 Lasix a day pretty soon.Andria
Have any of you ever considered just politely respecting the wishes of the restaurant and not vaping while you're there? Not everything has to be a power struggle. I don't vape inside places all the time. It's not that hard. I just put the vape in my pocket, and don't take it back out again. Easy peasy. Often, I don't do it even without being asked to stop. Look at me, not vaping right now as I use both hands to type this message! In my own home, even! The other day I went to the grocery store, and I didn't vape in there, too. They didn't even ask me not to, I just didn't do it! Hell, one time, I was even outside and didn't vape for a couple minutes! Imagine that! Weird, right?

The artist of the sign nailed it, that fishes expression perfectly captures the reaction that vapours have when they see that they arent allowed to vape inside the premises.
