OK, all of you tech savvy people. I am going camping soon. What do I need to buy to keep my batteries charged while in the woods? I have a joye 510 manual PV. Thanks. Is there a batt charger that uses batteries only? Or is there something I can plug my wall charger into that runs off batteries? What do we do if there is a national diaster and the grid goes down???8-o

Really depends on how long your trip will be. If it's a few days there are some cheap alternatives if it's a long trip you'll want something more dependable but also more expensive.

If it's just a few days I suggest a 510 PCC or two and a stock pile of topped off batteries. Will you have a vehicle nearby while camping?

More info please.

I relied on my car batt for my power.

Had a 2-port car lighter usb adapter to charge my kensington power pack and JStick.

Also had my 901 & 801 passthru with me so if I had to, I could vape off the car batt while waiting for the kensignton/JStick to recharge.

This all worked great for 2 weeks of camping!

If you want to stick with just what you currently have, then I'd run with doots idea of the dc/ac converter for you car lighter so you can use you ac charger.

But, you might really want to look/buy a 510 passthru and the usb car lighter adapter. I believe the 510 passthru has a Li Ion batt inline that you can vape off of when not plugged in.

I've been wondering about these two but I don't know how much use they'd be.

It's just a few days. So are you suggesting I buy two PCC's? Also, when you take a batt off the charger and the light is green, does it stay fully charged until you screw it onto the atty and use it?

What I really want is something that runs off batteries. Like AA, or AAA, or 9 volt, you get the idea. I don't want to be dependent on my car. I don't want to drag my friends back to the car, or make them wait on me while I go to the car, etc... So, is there something that runs off of batteries that I could plug a PCC, or usb into?

Sounds like the PCC route will work for you - just charge the PCC's up and then you can top off your batts. The batts will hold a charge for days with little drop off.

There are regular AA batt cases with usb ports so you could use that to recharge the PCC and then your batts. The 'issue' is that you batts have their own connector and not much off the shelf fits them.

reg AA batt cases....what are/where are these found? So this would work if I had a bag of AA batteries at hand then, right?

What's funny now is that when the power would go out...I use to worry about the food in the fridge/freezer, ac unit, where are the flashlights, etc. NOW, my worry is how can I keep on vaping!

I know what you mean. We had an ice storm winter before last, and we were without power for 9 days! (We do not live out in the country). So, yes I'd like to find something for camping a few days, but, it would be nice to have something that would work if we happen to lose power again.

Does anyone know if the PCC could hook up to a battery powered usb charger that carries a 12 volt? (hope I said all this right)

I've previously used automotive booster battery packs while camping for charging cell phones and iPods, but while searching for good examples I found this:

Portable 12 volt Battery Power Station

The case/strap would be handy if you have to hoof it to your campsite.

Of course, the automotive types have a good bonus in that you can jump start your car with them, and some have built-in USB ports :)

So, any 12 volt portable charger will work then? I am asking because I don't know the voltage of the PCC, or the car charger for the 510 e-cig. If it's less than it's OK? I am sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, I'm not not electronically-gifted.:D

The link I sighted above sounds good, because it works off D batteries, so no internal battery that could eventually die. Would someone check it out and give me an opinion? Thanks!

Heather, the one you posted has a USB port in addition to a cigarette lighter socket. The USB port will work directly with the PCC and the lighter socket can be used with a car cord on the 510 battery charger.

Thanks!
I am getting the PCC and passthrough from rocky mountain.
Where can I find a car cord for the 510 in the USA?

Hello,

I am not sure about the 510 charger, so this might not work for you.

My charger has a spot to plug a mini USB into (in addition to the normal cord). I bought a cell phone charger from Amazon that works great for this. It is powered by a AA battery. The charger comes with 8 or 10 different connections to power almost any thing. It has a mini USB connector. Voila, charging off of an AA battery. The unit was only $3 bucks plus shipping. It's called the multi brand emergency cell phone charger.

Hope this helps!

Here's a pretty good emergency unit.
