Arno at awesome vapor spent over a thousand dollars to buy ALL of them to see which ones were the best.

He then picked the three best performers to stock in his store. You can see his review of the three here:

eCigarettes and eLiquid from Awesome Vapor

They are the 801 pen style, the 901 and the 510.

Be sure and get at least 2 batteries, a charger, and an extra atty (atomizer) as the latter can go out on you without warning.

I also made the mistake of not buying juice. I just got the cartridges that came with the kit and the 3 ml sample Arno sends free with each kit. That did me about two days meaning I went back on the analogs until another juice order came in.

I also would NOT order another automatic battery. Awesome Vapor carries manual batteries for both the 801 and the 901 (comes standard with the 510), but you have to either order them separately, or ask Arno to switch them out for you for a couple of extra bucks.

I have nothing to do with this business other than as a very pleased customer.

Good luck!!

    Somewhere between here and there
I like nhaler.com and rockymountainvapor.com. They are both in the US so you don't have to worry about customs. Nhaler's kit comes with some liquid or you can get one with a pcc. RMV has free shipping on orders over $14. They might be worth a look. I have only used a 510 so I don't know about the others, but can tell you that the battery life is kinda short between charges. I ended up building a box mod that I use 510 attys with but the battery lasts all day.

To start with buy the following from your vendor of choice:
    1 Starter Kit(usually 2 batts, 2 atty's, 1 wall charger, 1 box of carts)
1 10ml or larger bottle of juice
    2 extra batteries
    2 extra atomizers

That will be enough gear to evaluate if using a vaporizer will work for you, although it may cost a little more than $80.

My model of choice is a 510. Two vendors I've been using for months and am very satisfied with:

    Dietsmokes
    Totally Wicked

    Good luck!

I started researching e-cigs about 3 weeks ago. My wife and I are wife are a pack a day smokers. I tend to over research everything, it's my nature. Thanks to the fine folks of this community, I decided on the Joy 510. I ordered a starter kit from rockymountainvapor.com along with a USB passthrough and camel juice. Great service, he appears to be out of 510's at the moment.

My passthrough gave out on me after 5 days, I'm going to send it back. Besides that, I love it and my wife loves it. The batteries are famous for being crap as far as holding a charge for long, and I soon discovered I needed a PCC which I also ordered from the above website. Again good service. A bit of warning though, red looks more like pink. Since, I've had the PCC, I can go work an 8 hour shift and never have to worry about it. The red PCC (actually pinkish to me) will be going to my wife, I just ordered a silver one.

Good luck, and if you have any questions, search these forums, it's probably been answered.

Pulled this from my reply about 10 threads down:

    35.00 starter kits - cignot.com and eVapor.net - Manual switch 510's (highly recommended)

    27.00 starter kits - eVapor.net - 901 style and 801 style

You'll research juice a bit. Everyone has a different idea of which brand is best.

    Hope this helps.

Definitely watch videos of people using the different models, if nothing else just to see what they really look like. I thought the 801 would be really huge--like a penny whistle, but it is not. It's just about an inch longer than the 901.

And definitely buy extra batteries and some juice.

I have 401s, 510s, 801s, 901s and Janty Sticks, and I do not have a favorite among them or think one is the "best." They are all good and all different.

Most people tend to like the manual batteries best. I don't have a preference in that area, but with the 901 and the 801 (and maybe others) you can get both types of batteries.

With the 510 and the 901, you can get a portable charging case that is extremely handy--unless you are only going to vape at home.

Once you pick one, learn how to use it. It is different than smoking an analog cigarette. Don't get discouraged if vast plumes of vapor do not issue forth the first day. Come back in here and ask for help if you need to--folks around here are really helpful in getting folks past the learning curve. After you get the hang of one, the others will fall into place and you can play around with other models and mods if you like.

I looked through the sponsoring suppliers and compared prices there when I was first ordering. I was never disappointed. After a while, I ventured out into other suppliers not listed in that section, and I have always been pleased with them, too. I hesitate to recommend a supplier, not because I am being overly-cautious, but because I have used quite a few (stocking up:rolleyes:) and listing them all would be more of a directory and I wouldn't want to leave anyone out.

Good luck! I fyour experience is like mine, within a week you will not care if you ever smoke another analog--and I wasn't even looking to quit:cool:

only with manual batteries unless you want to keep smoking because that is what you will do with the automatic batteries.

    Everyone is different;)

I didn't keep smoking with automatic batteries.

I do use both now, but when I started out what I really learned on was an automatic (401) and there was no problem at all.

And for some things, an automatic battery is actually *preferable* to me--like when I need both hands to do whatever it is I am doing.

If I had to start over and knew then what I know now, and had to choose just one, I would get a 901 with both kinds of batteries. The 510 is really good, but kind of hard to hold between your teeth when you need to grab something. Same with the 401. You can hold on to the 801, but it is kind of heavy.

The 901 is the perfect weight and size, and has the flat tip so you can let go of it if you need to.

Now, maybe none of that means anything to anyone but me, but we all have our little quirks;)

The 401 has a decent battery life, and the draw is probably closest to an analog, so I think you made a good choice.

I would like to know your definite of "decent" battery life. What I and many of us use gets 5-6 hours on a battery charge. The M401 at best gets an hour unless you are one of those very, very light vapers who take a hit once an hour. Many of us take a hit 25-30 times an hour and still get 5-6 hours of battery time. So I am at a loss for how 1 hour is considered "decent" if you vape on it over 20 times an hour.

    Not interested in argument, Hawkeye.;)

If you are using a battery mod (which is the only thing I can assume if you are getting 5 hours of battery life) and are happy with it, that is fine and dandy, but for a new vaper just learning, cut them some slack and let them learn on something that is a rasonable facsimile of what they are used to instead of something fairly odd-looking.

401s are good to start on. So are 510s, 901s and 801s.

Later on, people are perfectly capable of deciding for themselves if they want some big, honking device that one needs to be cautious about using in public.

The only device I have that only has a one-hour battery life is a manual 510. I get a couple of hours at least out of a 401.
