Then I realized I was trying to smoke the empty safety cartridge that comes with the atomizer.

Safety cartridge? Hmmm, I guess I can see having empty carts to protect the wick end of your atty. Maybe.

I just got my 510 kit and promptly used one of those empties to try out some juice -- drip onto the atty wick, insert empty cart, and vape. Then I stuffed both empty carts with aquarium filter material. Voila!
