Ok. I’m no longer a newbie. I got into this in a big way and tried just about all systems. Vivi’s, Kanger, Cartomizers, Genesis clones, Stardust etc. etc.
Conclusions:
I prefer Silica over SS mesh. Wicks far better and yes it does “slightly” alter the flavor. I make my own juices and adjust for that. 18nic 20PG/80VG
I prefer dripping attys. Vision Eternity and Igo-l are my favorites. A modified Vision Eternity and a modified V-Core 2.0 “Squid" are my “very” favorites. The “Squid” as it comes out of the box is really crappy.
Vivi Novas are good if you don’t mind tipping and work best if you keep the tank full
I tried hard to like an AGA-T + but my other choices beat the pants of it in terms of well, everything!
If I were to recommend a starting system to a newbie it would be a Vivi Nova with a 1300mah variable voltage battery (IE Spinner, Revolver) or a 1000 mah eGo twist.
By the way, it’s been over a month and I can confidently say that I’m done with cigarettes after MANY years of chain smoking.
Just my thoughts FWIW and regards to all.

I still stick by the saying whatever helps you stay off the real thing, as for me i have also run the gambit on devices and builds, but i have been hooked on the hybrid and/or gene style with mesh wick and kanthal wire but to each their own. Hapyy vaping

yes, I did not mean to imply I found "the right" way. Just what works for me and hopefully help someone.
As for the mesh vs silica try a simplistic experiment. Stick a similar length of each half way into a glass of water and see which wicks faster.
I definitely get more vapor from silica and I LIKE lots of vapor.

By Squid are you referring to the RDA that GotVapes calls the Octupus? If not, do you have a link?

How do you mod the VE and the Squid? I'm barely starting in RBAs and would love to know more. And, does that mean that the Igo-L is fine just the way it is, without any modding?

Oh, congratulations on your success, and welcome aboard!

If that's the one you are thinking of let me know and I'll tell you what I did. I basically turned it into an Igo-l that you can see through. The Igo-l is fine as it comes but doesn't hold much liquid. I bored the air hole larger on one and it produces even more vapor at the expense of warmth and the feeling that you are sucking through an empty tube.
I like the Vision Eternity a bit more. Amazing how much liquid it holds and no leaks or fussing around.

As for the VE, I took the drip tip from a Vision Stardust and cut an o ring from a soft drip tip so that it would fit into the shorter tube that comes with the VE. The Stardust tip has a long stem that seems to work better in this mod than standard drip tips. So you end up with a shorter path to the wick for a warmer vape and I think it looks better with the shorter tube as well. Simple eh? And by the way, you can still use a type a tank without having to switch tubes.

No, that's what I know as a Splitfire. This is what I thought you meant. But, I am curious how you turned it more or less into an Igo-L. Did it turn out well enough to be worth the trouble?

Thanks for the tip. The VE was the first RBA I had considered. I was scared off by reviews that said the posts broke off too easily or something like that. But, I'm still interested in it. As a matter of fact, yours is the second review I've read from someone who really, really likes theirs.

The Vision Eternity is back on my To Buy list.

Not too much trouble if you like fiddling a bit :)The problem with it is its terrible wicking so...
I pulled the 4 wicks out of their holes and cut them shorter, about half. Plugged the holes with bits of silicone. Replaced the threaded head with a Vivi Nova head and its silicone cap thingie. So now you lose the use of the bottom tank, but you can drip into the top tank more juice than the Igo-l and can see when its getting low. No air hole alignment issues. The wick stuffed upper tank vapes like crazy. I'm going to try next leaving two of the wicks into the bottom tank and filling both tanks.

Iv'e had no issues with mine. The posts and caps are tiny though and some dexterity (and magnifier in my case) is required:2cool:

Sounds promising. If the top alone vapes like crazy, there's got to be a way to make the whole thing work better. If you make some headway, post in the RBA section for the rest of us to get hints from.

Thanks for the info. And, I'm sure I'll need a magnifier too. As I do to work an any RBA.

Wouldn't toilet paper wick faster too? I don't think it's about speed.

No, I mean the RBA forum. It's hidden in the Assorted PV Topics section.

Very cool! And, which vendor carries that? I want one. :p

Well, its still in R&D. Some "minor" portability issues to work out. I'm also working on an enema vape system8-o. My company will be called "Your Last Vape"
I'm gonna be rich I tell ya!
