NO longer lurking! Hailing from Upstate SC

Hello. I'm a prospective new vaper, but I've done my research. I'm currently saving up to buy a nice high-capacity tube mod or VV mod with a fat tank and a driptip on the side to taste test flavors. I'm also planning on buying a couple of Ego-twists or mid-level battery to get my fiance a nicotine-free setup and a similar one for me to take to work, etc. and not worry about it getting stolen or lost.

I've been smoking Newport 100's for six years, phased from two packs a day to one pack, and finally to half a pack a day. I have switched to full flavors when they came out. A good friend's father died from COPD and associated complications, and I saw the worst of it in the last months of his life; he was a good man, but like many people in South Carolina, he has always smoked cigarettes, since he was a twelve year old kid. Kind of like a scared-straight deal. I also see how my stamina is shortened from when I was younger and a shortness of breath, yellowing of fingernails and teeth, stinky breath and clothes, and the look I get from a lot of people.

I'm working my way up from the bottom, as I'm quite skeptical. I initially did research, then I bought a disposable Blu cig. It lasted for a day and some change; little throat hit, which made me skeptical. I've since bought a couple cheap clearance 260mah batts and a few carts and a 30ml of juice for 20 bucks. Gotta love clearance. I'll use this until I save up about $120 to buy a reliable mod, batteries, charger, and a ton of juices.

I've watched hours of video on youtube from popular GrimmGreen to a plethora of reviews, comparisons... man, I don't know if I'm more confused or more enlightened. Cartomizer, atomizers, clearomizers, smileomizers, 510, 901, 808, adapters, spacers, single wick, dual wick, octopus, rebuildable atomizer, rebuildable tank, stainless steel mesh, variable volt, variable watt, ohms of resistance, sub ohms, PG or VG, 18650 or 2x CR123A, WOW. I love learning the intricacies of it all but the complete lack of standardization is killing me.

That's all beside the point. The real reason I'm joining now and not lurking forever was to post in this thread: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/south-carolina-vapers-forum/403853-new-store-greer-sc.html but because of my lurking, I can't just.. drop in with my slice of knowledge and give a shout out from where I am (West side of Spartanburg!) Hope to frequent to forums soon.

SO. TLDR: Hi.

Welcome in you peeping Tom you. Yeah the lack of standardization is pretty horrible for vapors when they start. I stalked this joint for 2 months before I pulled the trigger. I really appreciate the freedom now though. I'm not sure what mods your looking at but as far as the batteries go order them and charger from rtdvapor. Best price I've found and super fast shipping. For the 2 twists try this http://www.myvaporstore.com/Vision_Spinner_Joye_Ego_C_Twist_Combo_p/vvs-c.htm what mods are you looking at?

Thanks DJ, and good to know I'm not alone Litta. Aceman: Fantastic link! I've been thinking about a few of them.

I love the idea of the Bombshell Stinger because it uses the honkin' 26650 battery. I'd prefer it with a kicker of course, but that would go way over my budget. So I've been toying with a mod that uses a 18650. Nothing stacked, I heard they're more prone to discharge violently, and I'm pretty aloof and would probably have a hand grenade go off in my pocket without knowing it.

I want to get past 3.7v, from my research the big clouds start coming past 4v.
I really like this battery tube, mostly since it's mechanical: Mountain Vaporizer 18650 Battery Tube

But I'd have to get a kicker... and I don't know if I want to make such a large investment for a product that would eventually die. So I might be restricted to a single 18650 with no VV control. I want a tank, something that would be semi-flush with the battery tube, with high capacity, and something that would last for a while and that I wouldn't have to replace every two weeks. I think the tank is my biggest issue; I've also heard a lot of issues of plastic tanks cracking and disintegration with any cinnamon flavors so.. I'd prefer a fat metal tank, or something glass. I don't know if I could handle a genesis rebuildable tank. 510 seems to be my connection of choice as it has the most accesories... Also the concept of a drip tip kind of confuses me; is it just an atomizer you drip directly into?

So I want clouds. Lots of big clouds and a good sized tank to last me a day or two with a fitting battery. I would prefer minimal maintenance. I'm asking for the perfect tube, really.

Soooo many questions.

Welcome I was a lurker for a long time...even after I joined. Lol. I started out small and wish I had jumped in with both feet..would have saved me money in the long run..started with an 808 then, tiny ego then ego twist, spinners. Then jumped in and got a provari which I personally love..I use my smaller ones for work..last count I have about 20 tanks with my favorite being a vape revolution tank with a iken vape fusion carto.

Those tanks are sharp!.. they are plexi too, I imagine atomic fireball wouldn't be a problem with it. $40 is pretty steep for a tank, you get what you pay for though, meh.

Ibtanked also has glass tanks, complete set with stainless steel caps for $25 I have several of these and they perform great. Also valley view vapes has them very reasonable price with alum caps. Check out the tank thread on here you will get all options. I have tried all the tanks I mentioned and they a work great.

I'm glad I have chose the right forum! Already getting all the answers I'm craving. I appreciate the tank help. It's difficult to not outright spam my way into 20+ posts, I don't necessarily agree with the mandatory newbie area, but it's understood why it was done. Do e-cig companies frequent these forums? Either resellers or those making them? Anyone close to the upstate?

Thanks again

Hey SwiftGen...
If it's "Big Clouds" you seek...
It's not the volts or watts...it's the pg/vg ratio !
More VG= big, white vapor clouds !
(I like the cloud effect myself too..:vapor:)

A dripping atomizer is really a coil and wick...just holds 2-10 or so drops...
AAH...but the flavor of the juice is clear and clean.
And with a RDA, and some high VG juice....you can make huge clouds !!!!

Highly recommend the SmokTech 'Natural' fully mechanical mod, with a ST 'octopus' RDA...
A really nice inexpensive combo...and a 'cloud machine'

I love the look of the Natural! Very clean and looks well machined. That'll go into my top three probables now.

My cheapo kit just arrived (syringe, 5 cartomizers, 2 manual 250mah batts, 30ml Top Banana) I saturated the cart as soon as I got it and took a big inhale...

PAIN! It burnt all the way from the top of my throat to in my lungs. I exhaled through my nose and it burnt harshly again, with little to no vapor. My lungs felt like they got punched -- hurts more than my first cigarette! I don't know if its the cheapo liquid, carts, or battery but... man, very not enjoyable. I'm leaving the top off to my e-juice, I heard steeping helps, but I really don't know if I can handle a burn like this. I've remedied it by inhaling very quickly to mix the hit it with lots of air, and it gives a hell of a throat hit. I'm using 24mg nic level, I figured I'd work my way down.

I'm chalking it up to either my dirt cheap equipment, or the juice is freshly mixed and needs to sit like a 12 year scotch. I'm puffing on my cart without firing it trying to speed the process of airing out the juice in the carto.. It stings! The disposables I've tried have the same assembly as the cartos I have, and they don't sting at all at the same nic level!

Hey NGAHaze! Thanks for the info, I've researched everything it seems EXCEPT for the technique. Holding it in my mouth a bit longer helps a lot, and I'm getting my nic in and have no want for a cigarette so far today. Thanks a lot for the link! I'm on my way to health I certainly hope.

I love this community already. I've never been helped so much, so quickly, without any flaming. Awesome! F!#% combustion!

Those darn cartos !!!!
If you don't saturate them 'completely'...they burn and taste like burned carto filler (crap !).
I think you might want to fill em, let em sit awhile, fill, spin, fill...sit...
I'm so sorry it is working so poorly for you !
Persevere my friend- Persevere !
It will get much, much better.
