A couple of thoughts, first, when filling this Aspire tank make sure that you are not getting the liquid down in the center tube. I fill mine slowly up around the threads and let it cascade down the inner side of the tube. This should eliminate the 'spitting' that you describe. Second when installing a new wick I'll drip six or seven drops right into the center of the unit and let it soak for a bit before firing it up. This has eliminated the few burnt hit issues that I experienced early on.
Lastly you might experiment with the twist setting on your evod to discover your sweet spot. Personally I vape at a lower voltage than many, again this can also eliminate the burnt taste issues. Good luck Nuwbie sam

Is it an ET-S with BDC or BVC coil?

(sounds like gobbledygook...)

BDC will often get a burned taste. BVC will sometimes spit and leak.
Neither is exactly perfect....

I would suggest giving it a good talking to then assault it, throw it, slap it, and call it "a bad kitty."

or am I confused with the film Madagascar? :)

I recently upgraded from that tank, but I found that vaping higher than 3.6v would usually give me a burnt hit. Keep the voltage low, and make sure you are using the new bvc coils. When I originally bought the tank I am pretty sure it came with the BDC, but I am not sure if they are shipping with the BVC now. ET-S sometimes does spit even if you don't get any juice down the center so what I did is to hold it so the tank is upside down and then i burn it for a few seconds to get rid of excess juice.
