Well, I've decided to try an e-cig, and after a little while browsing this forum, I've decided on the eGo starter kit (mainly for the battery life and good reviews).

I just have some extra questions since this whole thing is new to me, and all the terminology is making my head spin (atomizer, carts, etc.)

What do you recommend I order besides the starter kit? Do I need to order empty carts to put choice liquids into? How hard are they to fill? Is it easier to just get prefilled carts?

Links to products would be a huge help!
Thanks in advance!

edit: What are drip tips? (just when I think I've got this stuff somewhat figured out)

I would recommend ordering a couple of small bottles of eliquid in case you don't like the flavor of the default cartridges. And once you've tried vaping and decided you like it (because I'm totally confident that you will ), then you'll want to order at least one more starter kit or at least one more of everything as a backup so that if something goes wrong with any of your equipment, you won't be tempted to return to cigarettes while waiting for replacements.

Do I need to order empty carts to put choice liquids into?

You can, or you can drip a few drops of liquid into the atomizer to try different flavors. :toast:

How hard are they to fill?

All you really need to do is to pull the cartridge off of the atomizer and then drip liquid onto the filler until it looks like a Slushy. Some people stick a syringe into the filler to fill it from the bottom up, and others stick a toothpick between the filler and the cartridge wall and drip the fluid along the toothpick to fill it. :)

Is it easier to just get prefilled carts?

Yes, but not as cheap and not nearly as much fun. :D

What are drip tips? (just when I think I've got this stuff somewhat figured out)

Drip tips are hollow mouthpieces you can use instead of cartridges. Since they're hollow, you can drip liquid through them into the atomizer without having to remove the mouthpiece. ;)

You need a few vapo-tronic turbolizers, a refracting nico-hydrolizer, and a few reversable ion-drip combustion arrestors. Then, assuming you've properly adjusted the polarity of your eGo, and configured the above equipment, you should get some decent vapor.

Okay, I'm just pulling your leg. Some sections of ECF make it seem that you need an MIT degree to vape.

Anyway, I have an eGo, which I got a couple of months ago. I started with cartridges, which I found to be more hassle that they are worth. Now, I use a Super-T drip tip, which isn't the cheapest, but designed to have a wide, easy to hit mouth and to effectively funnel the liquid to the atomizer. I like the stainless steel one because it seems the liquid flows better, and I never get a mouthful of liquid.

For driving and when dripping is not practical, I use cartomizers, but that's a rarity because dripping is soooo easy with a Super-T. When driving, I just drip at stop lights, and when driving on the highway, I can drip without really taking my eyes off the road.

Well it's nice to see everyone goes through the same thing that I did. Trying to decide what to get. I decided to try vaping last month. I also bought the Ego and I love it. I ordered cartomizers and e liquid with my first order and I am so glad that I did. They are super easy to fill and made it so easy to get started. I had problems using the atty at first. Now it all makes sense but I don't know if I would have stuck to it if I hadn't had the cartomizers at first. I also thought I would only like the tobacco type e liquids but to my surprise I prefer the sweet flavors and caramel is my favorite. In the beginning it's kind of trial and error with the juice. However I found no problem switching to vaping instead of smoking, in fact still have 3/4 of a carton of cigarettes left since I switched so quick. I feel so much better now. Good luck I hope it goes as easy for you.

Wow thanks for all the info guys. This is what I ordered yesterday before I logged in here today and saw all this info...

1 ego starter kit
2 extra atomizers
1 pack of empty carts
and a carrying case

So all I would need now is some e-liquid and I'm good to go?

I would add a couple thoughts after a month of vaping myself,
Get severel samples of liquids. I wasted tons of it in the beginning, and ran out. Also since your getting the ego you might want to try the mega cartomizers for the ego. You can find lots of info on them on here and youtube. The mega's last a long time and give a huge amount of vapor. The regular cartomizers did not work at all for me. I have found the mega carto's and dripping the best for me..until I bought a higher voltage device..lol.....now I'm ruined!

Hmmm now ur getting me thinking I need the mega cartos.... my hubby's gonna kill me!!!

LOL!
I quit smoking a month ago and started with a 510 like lots of people. Soon I found the forums and started researching all this and it wasn't long before i experimented with all the cartrage mods..then the regular cartomizers..then the last two weeks the mega's. The mega's give a pretty good hit and last a very long time compared to the regular carts and regular carto's. I am using a mod now and the higher voltage rocks, but barring that.. the mega carto's or dripping is the best to me. You need a syringe to fill them btw

After making my first order, I wished I had ordered a Drip Tip. Also, most people don't order pre-filled carts, just order some e-juice samples at different flavors and nicotine levels to help you find the one your going to like. Carts are VERY simple to refill, just check out YouTube for tons on videos on how to do it. Good luck.
