We definetly could use some old time V4Lers back here to make it a warm friendly place like it was.I miss that. Thats how we became the most popular subforum and V4L grew so fast. The group of 09 really made it work.We rocked it! Even the battles were interesting because you knew V4L was becoming THAT good if other companies were attacking us,LOL!! We sure did have a lot of fun.

Thats very true,I guess I was just feeling nostalgic.I miss so many old timers that used to be here and I wonder if they quit vaping or just figured out what works for them.I wish people would just pop in like Luma and let us all know.Guess Im just wondering where they are now, lol.Even the crew popped in more because they were not as busy.I will always enjoy this subforum and all the wonderful people we have. You know me,I love everybody! We have a very good group.

I understand and share your feelings:wub:. Like Morandir I was a little confused with "like it was" since this is the warmest and friendliest vendor sub-forum around. Questions never go unanswered, new members are always greeted, we celebrate Vaperversaries, even our own members hold contest, the best product information available is provided, trolls don't dare step in here, and most importantly we help each other out in serious times of need.

Honestly I can't remember a time when this forum has ever been warmer or friendlier place. But I understand what you mean about many of the class 2009, there a quite a few I miss too.

Ms. Keyzy there are plenty of people I miss from the 09, 10, & 11 classes. People move on, though at times at least they do pop in. My stupid self will be here until there's no net or someone from V4L says leave, but as we all know that's a rarity. Usually people start here then go elsewhere... Just the way of the forum.

I apologize in advance for continuing to hijack KK's thread, but since I hate starting new ones, here goes.

Preface: we are creatures of habit and familiarity; in addition, we are all ex-smokers, which means we are by nature neurotic and anxious with highly addictive tendencies, and accustomed to being considered part of an outcast society. When we encounter 1. people of similar persecution, and 2. have found a mutual solution to our previous social predicament - vaping, this leads to very strong immediate bonding, and fierce loyalty amongst our new social network acquaintances. It's almost like the frog and the prince - we used to be ugly smelly frogs, after discovering vaping, we are allowed back into the graces of popular society. These emotional reactions formulate a dynamic version of a family, which although has taken many forms and morphed significantly in the last two years, continues to exist today because of a very strong foundation formed in 2009 by a handful of special people.

With that perspective in mind, those of us that have moved on for the most part, still have nostalgic feelings for those individuals who we interacted with when we first overcame our addiction to smoking and discovered vaping, especially those who mentored us. For me, it was the class of 2009 - far too many members to list, but of only a small fraction of which remain active on this particular subforum.

So, why are we here, what is the purpose of the forum, and what is our social obligation? My perspective is as follows:

1. The V4L subforum is sponsored by V4L as a medium of interaction for their existing and potential customers.
2. It is fairly free of major constraints, and any and all opinions appear welcome.
3. It's primary purpose (IMO) is to provide help and support to V4L customers - both new, and existing.
4. Provide a feedback mechanism for V4L regarding product performance and optimization.

People come to this forum for the following reasons:

1. To learn, understand, and solicit help with their newfound endeavor
2. To interact socially within the vaping community
3. To pay back the community by helping others
4. To complain or cause problems
5. To defend V4L against trolling or to set the record straight regarding unwarranted attacks on the product line or other V4L family members.

In my case, I was a lurker for all of Dec 2009 - I'm not much of a forum person or socialite. I learned what I needed to know, got a lot of help, and was well on my way to fading out, as I am quite self-sufficient and an experienced nuclear engineer / physicist. In late January however, V4L came under attack from various entities, and seeing how V4L staff were constrained from defending themselves, I decided to join ECF to help defend my newfound friends and V4L. It was clear at that time that there were very few people who could respond from a scientifically rational perspective, and I believe we were for the most part successful. After those issues became marginalized, I found I really enjoyed interacting with the members at that time, and all of us chimed in routinely to help new members out. It wasn't until the forum basically imploded in mid-2010 that I decided it wasn't worth the aggravation and frustration to continue participation. Since then, I come and go, more often when attracted by emails announcing new products. Whenever I come back, it's nice to see someone is on top of everything going on at all times. I agree wholeheartedly that the forum in its present configuration is far more responsive and helpful to new vapers than when I joined. It doesn't mean it was bad before per se, just different.

So in summary, and partly to answer Keyzy's proverbial "where are they now" question, I think a lot of people have either moved on to alternative products, don't need any help, don't feel they are needed anymore, or finally, don't feel a strong association to the current version of the V4L family. Whatever the reason, we are free to come and go as we please, and if we don't like what's going on, too bad - love it or leave it.

I will also apologize in closing for the length of this post (I used to get flamed for that too :). I hope everyone finds what they are looking for, and most importantly, benefits from a vastly improved lifestyle as a result of their exposure and participation in this unique and special subforum. Cheers to all of you, both present and those unaccounted for; have a great 2012.
