i see their problem here after watching a few commercials on tv... this list of side effects does not include death like all the other products that the FDA will approve..

The FDA had warned that e-cig use poses "acute health risks," that "the dangers posed by their toxic chemicals . . . cannot seriously be questioned," and that they have caused a wide variety of potentially serious symptoms "including racing pulse, dizziness, slurred speech, mouth ulcers, heartburn, coughing, ........, and sore throat." ( I have had all these symptoms from some bad taco's and a few margaritas)

Well, looks like that piece was directly from ASH, and they always do make everything sound as horrid (and in their own favor) as possible. But yeah, recent developments have not in fact been encouraging.

Here's a good recent post to jump into the S.E./njoy vs. FDA thread at, which analyzes the recent appeals court stay in a somewhat more 'positive' (a.k.a. less disastrous) light. Quickly to be differed with of course lol.

This is the time. We smoked cigarettes for decades. We knew how bad they were, yet we persisted. We annoyed our neighbors, but chose to continue. The government used the taxes we paid to balance their budgets while publicly villifying us. We were ostracized and belittled as weak. We have tolerated discrimination and exclusion. Any civil rights we had were deemed second class.

We were at a loss. Some brave souls torturedly tried to quit cold turkey. We were stone cold junkies needing a constant fix. We tried gums and lozenges that only slightly curbed our constant craving. We agreed to be guinea pigs in pharmaceutical experiments that have side effects like suicide. We continued smoking.

We like smoking. It relaxes us. It soothes us. It inspires our brains to excitement and original thought. Smoking is our dependable friend. Smoking cigarettes is immortalized in the growth of the world, in films and in our psyche. Our constant companion never wavered. It was always there. Smoking continues at around 20 percent of the US population.

Three years ago the "emulation aerosol sucker" was quietly patented in China.

One year ago I tried the gum. NG. I did not want to patch because you are not supposed to smoke while patching. I got the Chantix, but I was afraid to try it.

11 months ago I ordered the njoy npro. I was shocked. I have smoked 3 packs a day for over 30 years. It completely satisfied me. I started reading the sparse literature and news out there. I got juice in my mouth, burnt out the atomizer in days and returned to cigarettes. Was this a short-lived dream, another ineffectual product while waiting for the replacement atomizer. I googled and found little. Maybe I was alone or nearly so. Atomizer came, burnt - cycle continued.

There was something new - pen style. I tried to order but FDA stopped all shipments. Greater forces were at work. burn replace cycle continued. Ban lifted, I got the pen. Ordered another pen. Still burnt through more atomizers. Thought bubble - China. Eastmall (you thought I'd never get there at this rate). Juice, 901, 801, 510, 401. You know this trip. Sure some were doa, broke, were not satisfying. Eastmall delivered and credited and redilevered. I have never seen such pluck, verve and determination in any company like this. in NYC I started to go to Vapers meetings. There were suppliers with juices, mods and raffles. I wanted a mod of my own. The stick (enough said). The bartleby burned up in my pocket. Other mods seemed excessively priced for what they were. Besides, I'm an Eastmall customer.

Chinese holiday, package inspection, started online chatting for the first time in my life. Indulgence arrived!!!

From three packs a day to 2-3 cigs with my coffees. I wasn't trying to quit. I didn't want to quit. It just happened. My breathing has gotten much better. I have lost weight. I am exercising more. I am socializing more.

The Indulgence is so good that I can put it down without having to constantly vape. After a year, with all of its its and downs I am quantifiably, subjectively and objectively happier and healthier.

Which brings me to today. It would seem to a casual observer that electronic cigarettes are not a big deal. The media will not report anything that has the remotest tinge of positivity as regards this subject. I have personally shown NYC officials what e-cigs are and can do. I know that we are still few but our stories are powerful.

In the face of unbelievable obstacles we have found our way. Eastmall, David, Di and Mudmanc4 and Ed justifiably deserve my praise. We are in the middle of Passover and Easter. Let my e-cigs go.

Wherever there is Tea party, Vapers go. Wherever there is a Coffees party, Vapers go. If you see a newscaster doing a stand-up report, talk to them. Talk to police officers, community organizers, bosses, workers taking a smoke break... Get the message out.

We will take back what we have lost. Our health, respect and dignity. We will not have to make excuses or explanations. We will stop paying exorbitant prices and taxes. We will stop having people look at us as paraiahs. We will fight the FDA, cigarette companies and the pharmaceutical industry. We will challenge faux quit smoking groups.

We will organize and become the force we know we are. We have reached our time. We will fight.

Great choice of words dskarpus ! I love it, you have inspired me to say some thngs ....... well, it isnt hard, it's more difficult to shut me up hahaha

One pack a day smoker myself , vaped a 510 and had two 1/2 analogs after that, I am for real as could be. And I was always the type to take a couple puffs , .... it out, and relight several times, so guy's, the ecig development was simply waiting for my use.

If I were to tell you all of you the multifaceted changes that have inherently and consecutively occurred , and are still occurring, in my life since my introduction to the ecig, I calculate a small percentage of you that are even bothering to read this through, that even a smaller percentage would believe me.

At an rate, ecig smokers , people who enjoy there freedom, personally, politically or not, what country your from , doesn't matter, we are united, we have one great thing in common.

This is profound, it is heavy hitting history in the making, "oh stop " you say ? Yes ? well look at it this way , Look at the friends we have made in these changes since this, how many of us would know each other otherwise ? Thats right. :) It doesn't take much for us to see it. I know so many of your personally now that I know factually this is so very true , that none of us will ever be the same people because of this device, we have made lifelong changes, friends, acquaintances , and some further, much further in this aspect. haha I knows some lovers from this now, and i do believe there getting married...........

We cannot afford to lose these things, and what great things will be coming for us all, and future peoples , we cannot afford to ignore the fact that so many generations of peoples , ever exponentially expanding relationsships with personal freedom from something that has chained so many for centuries ......... ponder this,

Dont expect that there is someone else out there that will bring the light to someone elses ears about this, dont expect that it is going to be alright because there are to many of us , and we cant fail, because this would be a fatal flaw. Do it, mention it, show it, use your device when you see a smoker, at the very least, give them the same opportunity that you have had.

Anyone else hate ASH as much as I do?

These are the kind of people who were the same kids in school that would go run to the teacher or principle telling on kids, often exaggerating or lying about the circumstances.

Yeah, here's a 'favorite' of mine from ASH:

"... As many studies have found, exposure to even small amounts of drifting tobacco smoke can trigger a heart attack in nonsmokers in as little as 30 minutes. Since a major cause of the heart attacks is nicotine, the main component of the vapor exhaled by e-cig users, those in the vicinity of e-smokers appear to be at similar risk."

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :grr:  :-x :grr:

Ash statements like that make all smokers and Vapers crazy and fuel the discriminatory actions of anti-smokers. For reasoned and legitimate argument I look to Dr. Michael Siegel, a fervent anti-smoking crusader. He carefully and scholarly examines such statements. A breath of intelligence that I seek when others would parrot such twaddle as fact. The media loves these ASH press releases and propagates such lunacy because it fits their present agenda. Wow! that is one heck of a mouthful! And all of it experienced by many of us. Your advice to talk to people is good, and I have been doing it the few times I get the chance. We all have to keep plugging away. The ecig means too much to let it die by the wayside. I can't understand the likes of Ash. They should be the first backers of the ecig. They must be so wrapped up in hate, that they can't see what they are doing.
