No solid evidence that e-cigarettes aid smoking cessation unlike the nicotine patches, gums and medications approved now

Everyone I know who has quit smoking has done so either cold turkey or by switching to vaping. I tried everything short of hypnosis to quit, patches, gum and pills no help. The day I got a good vaping setup I quit. One day, that was all it took. I have never felt any of the issues that I did trying other methods.

The only reason that they say there is no evidence is because they won't do a study. When they finally do it will be half assed at best.

Unlike the patches...yeah I smoked on those and thought I was going to die.
Like the gum...Yeah that burned my mouth and tasted like eating caulk
Like the medications...Yeah chantix sorta worked, until I woke up from a dream and ran out of the house scared to death because I thought it was real.

Yeah, those approved methods are working for what? 1% of users who try them, I know for a fact the success rate for them is very small.

Ohh ECF has how many members that no longer smoke thanks to vaping.............We are the evidence you full of what comes out of my .... daily ignorant misinformed, idiots.

Great now I am POd
Vape,Vape,Vape...Ahhhhh
Maybe we need to gather in masses and break down medias doors and get in the tv studio and on tv for anyone to see the truth in this rediculous world we live in.

I have issue with the line in the thread title as well, mainly because there is evidence - there have been well-conducted clinical trials proving that e-cigs are effective at smoking cessation. Not only that, but there are trials proving that second generation devices are more effective than approved nicotine replacement therapies. (How do I know of these trials? They are on my computer - they're not that hard to find.) Anyone who claims there is "no" evidence is either lying or uninformed.

The fact is, organizations who are against e-cigs are flat out lying about the existence of evidence (FDA, WHO, CDC, etc.) and others who repeat this bologna are accepting what these organizations say at face value without doing investigation of their own.

Another day, another lie...

And huge samples in studies that show nil 'never smoked' early teens doing ecigs.

They allow comments, although they are moderated, I gave it a try anyway, see it shows up.
It would show if their minds are made up or just poor research.

Aren't we all evidence? Albeit anecdotal... what other evidence can there possibly be? Where do I sign up to make it empirical? Have I been a non-smoker for so long I no longer count?

How can 2-3 million ex-smokers turned vapers be reduced to mere anecdotes? Could it be because the "public health" lobby (read: ANTZ) is lying because the facts don't fit their quit-or-be-marginalized narrative?

There is tantalising evidence that evidence is being ignored.

The ASH Stop Smoking Toolkit for example shows the number of vapers who don't smoke fairly steady at 10%. If they kept vaping, wouldn't that go up? I have a feeling that it is down to the questions asked. I think that when someone has stopped smoking for over a year or two they also tend to give up vaping. Once that happens they become invisible.

There is plenty of evidence that vaping helps people quit for a year or two, but no study looks any further than that. And no trial has used decent modern e-cig equipment. So the best figures available are that e-cigs are about as effective as patches.
