I've been vaping for several weeks now. I use a KR808D-1. I have both manual batteries and automatic batteries. I prefer the manual ones.

However, here is my problem. I have a couple dozen different liquids in different strengths, different PG/VG combos, and from different vendors. Except for a couple of tobacco flavors and Cinnabomb, I get little or no flavor when vaping. Vapor amount is fine -- just no taste -- or else I can barely taste it. In most cases I have to read the label to know what flavor I am vaping.

I feel that the problem lies with me -- not with the vendors nor the liquids. This last time I ordered I made note of the flavors others have mentioned as being strong and ordered some of those flavors. Except for the Cinnabomb, this did not help. The Cinnabomb is not all that strong of a taste, but at least I CAN taste it.

Any suggestions as to what I should or could do to change this? Should I buy some straight flavoring to add to these? In future, should I order double flavoring? If so, from whom would I buy the straight flavoring and/or order the liquids with double flavoring?

Thanks,

Karen

Many vapers experience these little lulls shortly into their Vaping experience.
Nothing you do will make the vapor taste good.

I think it has something to do with taste buds coming back to life after being dead for XX years of smoking.

Just power through it, it should only last a few days at most.

I had mine around 6 weeks in, and it lasted about 2 days.

You might want to try a regular atty like a 510 which you can use with an adapter on a Kr8. I know others will disagree but for me, I don't get much flavor with a cartomizer. To test this, I filled a cartomizer with Peppermint from Tasty Vapor and used it with a 5v device. Now Peppermint is very strong and on a regular atty, it chokes me with flavor and TH. In the carto, I could barely taste it. Less strong flavors I don't taste at all in a carto. I have tried to love cartomizers but without good flavor, not going to happen.

    Just my 2 cents.

Same here. I use 510 and 801 atomizers, and occasionally 901s, but don't like the cartomizers due to a lack of taste and the feeling of sucking too much air.

Whatever the problem is, I have it, too and was going to put up a similar post myself. I've got an eGo and a Riva and other than my tobacco flavors, I'm not getting much of anything. I'm not buying junk juice...these are vendors that everybody else is doing cartwheels over. I check the flavor against the review and people are raving about how they can taste the XXX and the flavor of ingredient YYYY balances out the tartness of ingredient ZZZZ. And I taste none of these things. I'm exactly two weeks into it and I'm hoping that my taste buds soon kick into gear. For now, in the hopes that they will improve with age as some have suggested, I've just tossed my fun flavors into a drawer, save for a vanilla caramel cappuccino that seems to be the only non-tobacco I can taste.

I'm having a bit of a different experience that SimpleSins. All of the tobacco flavors I tried were - hard to discribe - but rather unpleasant. Then got some MsT's BananaFostersCoffee - which was nice but a bit too strong on the banana and pretty sweet. Their chocolate Brownie tasted liked chocolate but needed something. So combined the BananaFosterCoffee with the Chocolate Brownie and I'm getting a very pleasant taste without any strong desert taste. I'm looking forward to combining some harsh tobaccos with some fruits.

If youre working in a smokey enviroment, still smoking, have a cold, any kind of allergy, sinus issues, blocked nose - any of these can affect your nose which is what its all about. Smoking kills the little hairs inside your nose that give your brain the 'taste fine tuning' (your tongue only gives basic info like its sweet, salty, bitter or sour) - but anything that interferes with nasal breathing can and does affect them.
I get this every few months - and I think at the moment its because there is guest in the house that is smoking PLUS I also am geting allergies (thank you grass pollen...) - its really really annoying, affects vaping more than eating, but it usually passes after a few days. I sometimes use a Neti Pot to help things along a little.
Now for the bad news; some people's sense of smell (the fine tuning part not hte omg its burning part) never recovers fully after decades of smoking and theres not much you can do about it if you are one of those people. The bright spot is that when your nose hairs grow back they decide to produce allergic responses to things you were never really allergic/sensitive to before. With me its hay fever - much worse since I gave up smoking (sigh lol) - make sure nothing in your house is triggering a response from you (your nose runs, its fairly easy to spot lol) and try and be patient (and fingers crossed youre not one of the few that never gets their fine tuning back totally).

Thanks, everybody, for your input. I really appreciate your thoughts on this problem.

Jonmo1 - I guess I wasn't specific enough. I've been vaping since May, and the flavor has been lacking from Day1.

    SC from SC - where do I get a 5v passthrough for a KR808D-1?

Rosesense and nicadd - I didn't consider that there might be a different reaction with carts versus cartos. Hmmm. I'll order some 510 carts and atomizers with a adapter.

SimpleSins - "I'm not buying junk juice...these are vendors that everybody else is doing cartwheels over. I check the flavor against the review and people are raving about how they can taste the XXX and the flavor of ingredient YYYY balances out the tartness of ingredient ZZZZ. ABSOLUTELY!! This is EXACTLY what is happening with me. I can VERY, VERY faintly taste some of the tobacco flavors and the one cinnamon -- everything else - NOTHING. Since I stopped smoking my sense of smell has improved quite a bit. But I certainly never had any problems with food taste when smoking and still don't - so why the problem with vaping flavor/taste??

dongenero - from reading the forums I get the impression that a lot of people don't like the tobacco flavors. Since you are able to taste the other flavors just fine, I would think you might try mixing the tobacco with one or two of the others.

CaptJay - interestingly enough, the only allergy I had has gone away. I had it for 30+ years, and assumed I was allergic to my cats since the allergy continued even when I moved. Because it's now gone, I'm guessing it was something in the cigarettes.

    .

Interesting, I think I may be experiencing this as well. Everything tastes like dust to me, even flavors I could have sworn I loved at first.

Good to know it's not just me and will likely pass.

I don't think there's a juice out there that tastes like an analog, so I decided to give up and branch out. The only flavor that tasted any different from the multitude of other flavors was a watermelon - and it was hands down the most disgusting flavor of all.

I kept seeing posts about Backwoods Brew, and wanted to give it a try. After I figured out how to order it, I received my first 3 bottles yesterday. This is how juice Should Taste. I got applewood, honey flue, and hypnotic mist. No more wasting $$ on stuff I only use once and then toss out. Well okay, I eventually want to try pizza and buttered popcorn, but I suspect I'm in for another disappointment.

I have the same problem, for the first 2-3 weeks I could taste my liquid of choice (some type of fruity juice) and liked it so much I ordered about 7 10ml bottles of it....Now I literally can not taste it at all...

Pretty sure I have sinus problems as 1 (sometimes both) nostrils are constantly clogged (deviated septum maybe) so naturally I am using nasal spray every 6 hours (used to be 12 but for some reason that was cut in half recently) I do believe 1 of the side effects of nasal spray is altered taste or weird taste so maybe that's my problem...might get that checked out one of these days

It sucks either way because now I taste everything but flavor, dare I say it tastes like ... but I am trying to fight through the horrible taste (sometimes it is worse then the dry atty taste)

I had the same problem until I tried the stronger flavors like V4L Menthol and V4L Wowboy. I have also been vaping since May and noticed this week that other flavors are coming through now.

I believe it was due to the way I smoked analogs, I smoked them quick and hot.

I also use a .591-6.2V mod now with the KR808D-1 cartomizers and I do notice different flavors work better at different voltages.

Guess i'm very fortunate. Having been off analogs for about 3 weeks now i know that my sense of taste and smell have improved dramatically.

My initial experience with the pre filled carts (8081-d) was not good.To me very burnt perfumey taste.I was trying different flavours at different strengths and didnt like any of them. I have had a couple of freebie samples sent with subsequent orders i placed for accessories and they were a bit better.

I dont know if there is a shelf life or not and if that maybe explains my experience with pre-filled.

I decided to go with premium blanks from v4l and also ordered some manual xl batteries.

I will tell you that with the 5 different flavoured juices that i recieved today from Freedomsmokesusa...(fantasic personal service btw) and filling the aforementioned premium v4l blanks....it has been a revelation!!

Every flavour very distinct, smooth and yummy. Everythink that i was hoping for in finding a great vaping experience.:p

The manual batteries do make a difference and i have used the auto v4l pt as well and it also does the bizz taste wise.

Just placed my order for a silver bullet tonight and looking forward to trying the 501 atties and the hv ones as well as i wanna see what 6v is like also.

Just to recap..blank premium 8081's from v4life and freedomesmokeusa juices and manual batteries or pt gives me loads of vape, flavour and satisfaction.

    Hope you find yours:)

I have been vaping sense march.I bought a cheap auto kit(can't remember the name) and quit smoking right away.I had 4 batteries die in 2 weeks.I went back to smoking while waiting for my 510 kit.when I started with the 510 juice was not right. Not much to any flavor and spicy. After a week or so everything was tasting fine.I ran out of juice for 3 weeks and was smoking and everything is off and spicy again.I think after a few days it will taste fine again.I cartomizers and attis, don't notice any difference in taste.
