Hi All, I've been an ex-smoker for the last 8 years but always missed the pleasure of a cigarettes. After hearing about esmoking I got pretty excited and grabbed my first about a month ago. The pleasure was everything I remembered.

Being smoke free for 8 years has made me value being able to breathe easily, no wheezing, not smelling, nicer teeth, nicer breath, etc. Not having to worry about the smoke in the house with my children (the main reason for quitting) is a pretty good feeling I'm not willing to give up.

I was wondering if any other long time non-smokers are around or I'm the only one dumb enough to willingly put the nicotine monkey back on my back?

Nuck--why would you want to start back on a habit you fought like hell to quit?? Many of us would love to be free from everything. Eight years and you still think about it--Ohh boy--shows us that we have a loooong road ahead---Sun:confused:

Hi Sun,

Nicotine on it's own was never a big health concern for me. I use low dose nicotine and have done the research. The raised metabolism and the glucose production (appetite suppressant) are actually desirable for someone with umm...more than a few lbs to lose :).

And yes, 8 years being 100% smoke free and I still had times where I really missed the pleasure of smoking. (A good meal, a long walk on a nice summer day, etc). I gotta tell ya, the pleasure is everything I remembered.

I am looking into making my own 'juice' without flavors to ensure I know exactly what is going into my body. I just hope they don't regulate the hell out this new pastime once it becomes more mainstream.

Nuck --if you like, go to any local health food store and pick up some Food Grade 100% Vegatable Glycerin and give it a go--Happy Vaping--Sun

You're not alone, Nuck!

I quit in 1999, had a couple analogs in 2003, stole drags off friends' cigarettes during get-togethers in 2005 and 2007 (a bunch of us get together every other year, since we're from all over the place).... But I really didn't want to start smoking again--the smell, the whole living my life around smoke breaks/smoking areas/no smoking allowed, the outcastedness, the frowning husband...the smell. Ugh. Still, I really missed the sensation of smoking. A lot. I thought I was just going to have to live with the longing....

And then came e-cigarettes!

I've been vaping since December, and it's the perfect solution. The longing is gone. I can throw away those two analogs I'd been keeping under the driver's seat of my car for "a special occasion someday." Hahaha. Good riddance. (God, they've gotta be so stale by now anyway.)

Since it's all about the sensation for me, I use 0 nic juice. Does me just fine.

Now I'm really looking forward to the 2009 get-together with my friends. I won't be stealing drags this time. :) And I've gotten one of my smoker friends to start using electronic cigarettes as well! So maybe I'd steal a drag off her cigarette--you know, if she had a model I hadn't tried yet. :D Even better: it's to be in New Orleans this year, where it seems like everybody freaking smokes. I'm always so envious when I'm there, but not this time!
