Hi there mates, my name is Phil River, 28y/o, I'm from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Been a two-pack-a-day smoker since 1995, mainly Marlboro and now a mix of Luckies and Carlton. I've tried many ways to quit smoking, NRT using gum patches, smokeless tobacco and also Cold Turkey, meds like Chantix... Well, you name it!

Seriously, I don't consider myself a heavy smoker, there are days that I smoke half of a pack, and days that I smoke two or three of 'em, apart from the nicotine addiction, I thing I'm mainly psychologic addicted, I love to have a good kick in my throat and lungs after all.

So, a friend of mine ordered a cheap pack of e-cigs at dealextreme, marlboro hi, and I borrowed his cigarette with a cartridge and vaped it for a whole day, without touching my regular cigarette... simply awesome!! I noticed my breathing was little better, and I've slept very well. (As for side effects, I had mild nausea and a urge to go to the bathroom).

The next day, when I switched back to analog, I couldn't stand the smoke... Simply awful.

So, I started to research a lot about e-cigs, I noticed that I could have an even more pleasant experience by avoiding the cheap ones for starters, so I made my mind for my initial purchase, I'm gonna buy:

Joye 510 Starter Kit
2 Spare atomizers
7 bottles of e-liquid - 2x Flue Cured tobacco, 2x Red Bull, 2x RY4, 1x Strawberry - All medium nic.

Is this good enough? Any thoughts?

Hello Phil:

Welcome to ECF. You've made a great choice and I'm sure you will be very happy with your purchase and your introduction to vaping. The manual batteries are exceptional, even though they are a little short lived on the 510.

Congratulations on your new addiction, vaping. I wish you good luck.

The 510 is king of monster vape hits, a little less flavor,,, 901 best for flavor, 401 best for dripping and small size, 801 for not needing to fill them as often. It's like different models of cars,,, only at $50 a pop, you can maybe think about getting two or three if you decide you like vaping. They are all good when they work,,, all a PITA when they don't.

Edit to add,,, a PCC would help with keeping things charged on the go. In my expirience, the 510 tends to die before the next battery is ready to use.

I think you'll be happy with this purchase.

Good luck!! Welcome to the world of vaping!

I have not tried the 510, but, have heard nothing but rave on how great it is!

As for the liquid, I can tell you from my experience you made excellent choices ;)

Whoa, thank for all your feedback guys, you rock!

Now, I'm concerned about the battery life you guys pointed out...

But, anyway, this is probably my weekly routine:

1- Early morning smoke, using a charged 510 "standalone"
2- At work, using 510 passthru plugged in my computer, no need to take a break to smoke (vape)
3- Lunch time and breaks... I use the 510 battery (1 hour)
4- At home, a mix of USB plus standalone.
5- And also, something I've never tried, smoke while doing my daily skateboarding or parkour, lol.

So, all in all, I guess 2 hour battery life is good enough.

The 510 is king of monster vape hits, a little less flavor,,, 901 best for flavor, 401 best for dripping and small size, 801 for not needing to fill them as often. Hmmm, I'm seriously considering a 901 and a 401 now... How about all of them? lol :D

I too am thinking on getting a 510. I don't know the different styles of 510 if they are all Joye or if they there are different makers of the 510. I'm new to this too. I saw a Janty Dura C, but I don't know if it has a number or is related to the 510 or something else. Or if it is compatible with something else.
It's hard when you are starting out to know, which is the same because of different knockoffs or names.
I saw on a page about one of these having a closed off battery and or atomizer something like that, that wouldn't let the liquid run into it and mess up that part. It looked pretty cool.
I do know I am short on cash, like so many others now a days and I'm always looking for the best deal ! I also don't like the idea of paying a lot on shipping. And only naturally it would cost more to buy from another country. But that's only to be expected. I guess if I could get the product at such a deal with the shipping would still be cheaper than buying closer, of course I would get it.
I think if you haven't tried one, as I haven't either, we just have to choose on what reviews we see and what looks appealing to us.
I keep reading reviews but then I forget which goes with which. LOL. I'm such a bird brain.
Which ever ones I get, I want to keep track of which parts are interchangeable with each other, so that I will always be able to keep the cigs running strong. I can always look for the best deals and sales.

All 510s are the same, exception being the Dura = auto battery, the Dura-C = manual batteries. Get the manual batteries. Dura/510/Titan/Yeti/Zeus = all Joye 510. Parts interchange between all/any of those, as they are the same e-cig.

An entire section dedicated to the 510:
Joye 510 - e-cigarette-forum.com • The place for electronic cigarette reviews, news and chat

    and list of suppliers:

    and list of pricing:
    http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-parts-suppliers-discussion-2.html#post301308

And discussion of said suppliers (this is to start of prior thread):
    http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/joye-510/16488-510-kits-parts-suppliers-discussion.html

I can't speak for the 901, only know it has less liquid/cart capacity than the 510.

The 401/2/3 (all the same, just different battery lengths) is a neat 'cigarette sized/looking' e-cig. It will not give you the throat hit of the 510, but is nice with it's exposed atomizer for dipping (not 'dripping'...put a few drops into a contact case or bottle cap, pull off the cart, put the atomiser wick into the fluid, and let it absorb what it needed, then get 5-15 good drags, repeat) and tasting new fluids, and it has good battery life. It makes a good backup, and good occasional use...but if you have the 510, I doubt the 401/2/3 will be your regular first choice.

Hi Phil, I think you'll like the 510 - with the PCC as many have suggested.. I think my suggestions would be to watch spikeys video (Comprehensive Intro to Vaping! ) if you've not already done it...Everyone new to vaping should...
Next, make sure you blow the primer liquid our of your new atomizer and reprime with some e-liquid before using (my first time vaping was on 3 days puffing primer lol ugh)...And I'd probably suggest getting maybe one of your e-liquids in a higher strength and one in a lower strength...Just in case the middle level isn't cutting it or is too much...You'll have back up ( until you learn to DIY a little)..

Another suggestion: a lot of newbies ( myself included, big time) Get really enthusiastic and start ordering everything in sight, on a large scale lol...Go slow..Go small in your orders until you narrow down what you like...Eventually you may want the power/battery life of a mod..
I have all 3..The 901, the 401 and the 510...All are nice for different reasons in my opinion... The 901 is a nice middle of the road choice in both flavor and vapor as well as the most accessible in parts( prefer it on a passthrough- haven't tried it with a PCC yet).... My 401 rocks when it comes to e- liquid economy and flavor...It's the only one that has the exposed atomizer if you find you prefer dipping the atty instead of dripping on it ( prefer it on a passthrough.. Haven't tried it with a PCC yet)....My 510 satisfies me most for the - inhale-lung/throat hit-vapor production ( prefer this one with the PCC over the passthrough)...

I just finished writing this and seen your post wegster...Nice links

I don't own a 901, but they seem to be the most popular.

The 401 is a hard hitting little work horse, and very portable.

I suggest you pick up a spare charger for each, since if your charger goes, you're dead in the water.
