So I'm gathering there are different ways to create DIY liquids. You can purchase a base mixture of pg/vg (say like 1 liter), purchase 100mg nic liquid, purchase your flavorings and figure out you mixture based on a formula for the nic level you want.

I'm also seeing where you can buy pre-mixed, unflavored nic liquid in the strength you want - or so thats the way I'm reading it - is that its a 50/50 mix already of pg/vg and nicotine. So as I'm understanding it I would then purchase my flavorings and mix to taste.

The latter seems easier than the former - as in I have less mixing and formulas to figure out so I don't crack out on too much nicotine if I mix incorrectly.

Am I right in what I'm learning so far? My goal is that I'd like to stock up on a bit of supplies just in case - so my plan would be to freeze whatever supplies I get for later use. I'd probably make a few mixes just to get acclimated with it...but I'd freeze, unopened, as it was sent to me the rest of it.

I'm leaning on getting a few 250 ML, 18mg, unflavored nicotine e-liquid base at a 50/50 pg/vg.... Then picking up some flavorings to suit my taste. I'm assuming this base liquid, premixed would last a considerable (like 12-18months if not longer if frozen) It seems that I'm probably over simplifying... but figured I'd ask as I continue to learn everything I can from this board.

Thanks in advance for any comments.

That would work.
But it really is pretty easy to mix higher concentrations. I use an Android app. I buy 48mg myself, and mix down to 12-18 mg.
PG and VG are so much cheaper than nic base, which is why I do it. I have not ordered anything higher, like 100mg yet, because I dont really have anyplace that I feel comfortable mixing it.

But I started out with 24mg, 50/50 liquid first. I understand your hesitation. Good luck with your DIY !:)

So you buy the 48mg nic base in whatever pg/vg you are wanting (which I'm seeing on a website I'm perusing)...and then dilute it down with flavorings to the 12-18mg nic. Thats my strength I prefer as well. Or are you saying you purchase 48mg pure nicotine liquid and mix in the pg/vg and flavorings of your liking.

I delute the nic base with PG, VG, and Flavoring.
In the app I use I just add the ingredients....For example...

Add to the app....Flavor (s), PG, VG, 48mg nic base.
I Figure out what the percentage of flavoring will be based on my preference. I usually wind up at 20 %.
Enter the amount of eliquid I want to make, say 15 ml
Enter the final nic mg that I want, say 18mg.
Then hit calculate....And the app tells me exactly how much of each to add, to end up with 15 ml's of 18mg juice.

It is really pretty simple. The hardest part for me was figuring out what the percentage of flavoring should be for a particular flavoring.

Perfect! New I missed something important. Thank you! Assuming from what I read that those bases your mention from ecig will keep in a freezer for what I've read to be at least 12-18 months if not longer

I lack data on these figures but uh yea that sounds about right...actually in all seriousness that stuff can sit on a shelf for a year and be totally delicious and delightful....it's pure chemicals...I wouldn't worry about it...go head and buy those gallon jugs :D
