Good Morning All!

My name is Jim and I can proudly say that I am an e-cig smoker now. I purchased my starter kit from V2 about 2 weeks ago, and so far I have only smoked analogs occasionally. For the most part, I favor the e-cig over analogs for many reasons, but the most important is the better physical feeling I have now thatn before. Being an analog smoker for over 20 years, I felt it was time to quit and I tried the patches for a couple of weeks, but found that the physical addiction (i.e. holding a cig in my hand, taking a drag from it, etc.) was still there and I fell off the wagon. I got curious enough to research the e-cig online and after mulling about with several brands/manufacturers, I settled on V2. I bought their standard kit which came with 5 carts, two batteries and charger. After the first couple of days, I found the taste to be very pleasing, but I was still concerned about whether i was receiving the right amount of nicotine to help satisfy my cravings. In essence, I wanted to be sure that what i was replacing the analogs with were going to work for me.

Even though I have a few analogs since I switched, I immediately recognized the difference, not to mention all of the reasons why I wanted to quit analogs in the first place. lol

Anywho, I stumbled on the ECF and thought I would give it a try to perhaps hook up woth others here and get some thoughts, support and guidance. I appreciate this place very much and i will be frequenting it often!

Thanks again.

Jim

Thank you knobbysmoo! I quit once a long time ago for about 3 months but this was before the advent of e-cigs. If they were around then, I would be smoke free already. Patches do help with the body's addiction, but the mental addiction is much stronger and using the e-cig is definitely helping. Having analogs around is pretty much for backup and having the occasional is just a gentle reminder for me. I'll be off of them soon enough as I am taking more to the e-cig now.

Grats! BTW we call it vaping

V2 is a KR808D-1 so when you need spare parts don't pay V2's prices. Instead buy parts at multibrand hardware vendors like LiteCigUSA.net where a nice manual battery is around $10-12 or at Vapor4Life.com where you can find colored batteries in various styles for a bit higher price (but still lower than V2) as well as prefilled cartomizers.

welcome Jim, recently got off analogs myself after 40 years. Gum gave me hiccups and didn't work, patches, hell i'd be at work with a patch on my back and a Winston dangling from my lip. But E-cigs, bingo, push the button, inhale the fog, and problem solved. Am still hooked on nic, but with a clean atty, live batt, and some juice, the analogs sit in their open pack getting stale.
In the morning i weaken, and start to think about digging into that pack just to "start the day off." Instead, i do what a foreman of mine told me he did years ago to quit cold turkey. "When i want a cigarette, i think about some fat rich Kentucky Colonel sitting on his vernadah sipping a mint julip and laughing at me". Works for me, and the e-cigs make it virtually painless. Good luck and hang in there.

You know you can refill cartomizers? Even if the V2 ones are glued on the end or have hard caps, you could buy Vapor4Life ones or buy KR808D-1 standard resistance soft-cap blank cartomizers and keep them damp with juice to get several days or more use out of each. One caveat - if you have automatic batteries they are vulnerable to being killed by juice leaking out of a carto (it would leak right above the necessary drag sensor through the hole in the end of an auto battery). And if you refill cartos inevitably you will occasionally get a couple of drips out of the bottom of the carto. KR808D-1 manual batteries still have a hole at the end of the battery but are not dependent on a drag sensor.

Hi Jim and welcome to ECF. I started with a KR-808 and I'm glad I did, I was self conscious about using an e-cig and from a distance it sort of looked like a traditional cigarette and didn't draw a lot of attention, was easy to use and very satisfying. I didn't make any real effort to switch to it completely and give up analogs, but shortly after I started using it I realized "OMG I just went an entire day with no analogs and didn't even notice!!"

This forum has been a blessing to me. Once I made the decision to ONLY use the e-cig I had some rough moments- one of which was talking on the phone lol..for 40 years when I talked on the phone I would automatically light up. I made a post here about the difficulty in breaking that association and several folks just jumped right in and offered me all kinds of advice. Moral of the story- the only dumb question is the one you don't ask =)
