The wire that came with my Cobra is Kanthal D 0.20mm wire and I am slap out it. I'm having major issues getting a coil to hold up for more than a day. Today I made 5 coils and each one shorted out in just a matter of seconds. I'm not being sloppy or rushing, the coils are always neat and tidy, so I'm not sure what I'm doing different than the 20 I've already made. I am using premade wicks that I got from Good Phrophets so I may buy some 400 mesh to and just try to start from scratch.

So, is there a gauge of wire that is easier to work with than others?

I found 30 AWG A1 Kanthal to be more forgiving when I got my Cobra. Like you my coils would pop with the wire that came with the Cobra & I realized the culprit was usually a hot spot/short due to the wick not being properly oxidized. The 30 Awg is thicker & will not pop as easily when you dry fire your setup prior to filling your tank. The hex screwdriver that comes with the Cobra fits perfectly in the wick hole & I always wrap a coil using it. Keep at it & happy vaping!

i didnt like the kanthal d that came with the cobra at all. some 30 or 32 kan a1 will def work better.
you already got wire but i buy spools from rtdvapor and mesh from okcvapes

also when doing the screwdriver coil trick the wicks need to match the diameter of the screwdriver pretty close, not tight kinda set them in and floating in place.

Thanks, this makes me feel better. The new wire will be in next week and hopefully this ordeal will be over.
