Hello everyone,

I have been an analog smoker for 40 years. I lost my job last May and am still unemployed. During this time my health (breathing mostly) has really gotten bad so I am going to quit. At my local smoke shop they started selling e-Cigs called 21st Century Smokes. So I picked up a disposable to give it a try. I wasn't impressed so I started doing research on the net which brought me to this great forum.......WOW is all I can say. This is the greatest forum I have ever seen with such wonderful, helpful and knowledgeable folks. I just want to say up front...Thank you all. Now a few questions...(I know you didn't see that one coming...:p

I've decided to go with the eGo-T starter kit from vapebig.com. Reasonable priced with 1100 mAh batts. The batts. are 5 click on/off and I was curious as to whether this is good\bad...a pain or a non-issue. The second question is the nicotine content. Like I said I've been smoking for 40 years and currently smoking a "light" analog. The disposable unit I had had 16% on it so I assume that was the nic mg. By the way it felt like someone taking steel wool to my throat when I vaped it but I contributed that to being a crappy unit with a crappy cartomizer. My question how strong of mg juice should I buy. I was thinking 18 but I don't want to get juice that is too low on nicotine. What is your all suggestion. Last question (I promise)..How does one fill the eGo-T?

Thanks everyone again for your help and a great forum.

Hola Steppenwolf, welcome to the wonderful world of vaping. In response to your questions, the 5-click feature is a good/bad thing depending on who you are. It's either good as it will keep you from accidental discharging your battery if you pocket carry like I do or it will annoy you if you forgot you locked it and needed a quick vape (like I do at work under my cubicle). I'm a former pack - pack and a half a day smoker and I subsist on 24mg eliquid but notice that I don't use it often since I get a good nic buzz going on less. And filling the Ego-T, you will need tank cartridges which there will be a lancet in the atomizer for the tank system allowing you to pop a hole in the cartridge. Now one of two ways to fill it is 1)popping the cap off the top of the blank cartridge and drip into it or 2)do what I do and use a syringe bottle/syringe plunger to fill the cartridge so it stays air tight. Hope that helps.

Vaping may seem harsh at first. The first few puffs of the day are pretty powerful but after that it mellows out. Pg tends to be more harsh than a juice with some vg in there. I would go 16-18mg and you can go up or down from there if needed. 24-36 is pretty powerful stuff. I use 6mg now so the high test stuff would make me pass out :) Good choice on the unit. You will be much happier then with the disposable. Get some small bottles of different juices with different nic content to find one that your throat likes. Good luck and welcome to the ECF!

Hello and welcome to ecf.....the eGo tank is a good kit....just pop the top off the tank after piercing it....(put the empty tank in atty first to pierce then use something small to stick in the hole and gently pop it off.....
The hard part is finding the juice that will do the trick.....if the nic you have now is giving you a sore throat, maybe a mix of 50/50 or 60/40 would suit you better. Remember to up your intake of liquids as vaping dries you out big time....
good luck and let us know of your progress.....we all love a success story here,
:)

Hey Steppenwolf, welcome. This forum is actually a college course for you that will be graded by the members of this forum ( JK :) Not really...but..here is some required reading for the course The Wonderful World of Vaping | Vaping Guides and after you read all this, then you need to write a 500 word essay on your thoughts about vaping (JK again :) But seriously, this read is very informative and should give you some good insight about how this all works. Don is a highly regarded member here and writes a wonderful guide.
Happy Vaping

Hi and welcome! I agree this is a great forum.

I'm new too and only been vaping for less then a week. I can only help on one of your questions. I have 2 different cartos filled with different nicotine levels on 2 separate ego batteries. 16mg for the morning or those tough "I want a dang cigarette" nic fit moments, then I have 6mg that I puff on the rest of the time. It's been working well for me. So my suggestion is to get a few different levels and see how you feel and what works. Trial and error so to speak.

Have a great day!

No e-cig expert but agree with all the above, however I've not tried the tank system, it came out just after I switched mod's, but the ego's a good'un, wifey's using mine along with the mega batts and mega LR atty, excellent kit, made a mistake initially of ordering 36mg high juice as I considered myself a heavey smoker! 30+, 18mg's about right for me now. The steel wool to your throat may have been due to the attomiser burning dry?? just a possibility? Good luck Steppenwolf with the ego, you won't regret buying it.

Thanks for joining us here on ECF. It is a great place to hang out for support & information. I quit smoking the day I received my first PV - 11 months ago - and haven't smoked since. I was a heavy smoker for 56 years, and was surprised at how easy it was to quit once I started vaping. It is also a lot cheaper. Thanks for the nice post. Much appreciated.

I was at 1 1/2 to 2 pad when I switched to vaping. 18mg was too low for me. I vape 24 mostly, 36 with my coffee in the morning. But everyone is different. Get some small quantity liquids in varying strengths and you'll find out what's right for you.
BTW, you didn't ask but may I sugest you add a coulpe of 510 attys and a drip tip to your order. I promise you won't be sorry if you do.

Well I ordered my eGo-T starter kit late yesterday afternoon with some juice. I do have to give vapebig.com a big thumbs up. Two hours from the time I put in my order until I received the shipped email. Very Cool.

Thanks everyone for your answers and words of encouragement. There will be more questions...

Like does anyone know if/where there is an online user manual for the eGo-T? I like grabbing user manuals on things ahead of time just to get a leg up.

Again, thank you everyone and I will let you know now it goes.

Welcome, and congrats on making the switch....when you get you ego, make sure you blow out the atomizers real good before you screw them onto the battery...sometimes they ship with a coating of oil preservative or something like that in them, and you don't want to vape that stuff....just blow real hard thru it into a napkin or tissue...you will see the stuff if it's there...
There are several videos on how to fill the tanks...some folks like to snap them onto the atty to pre-pierce them, then fill thru the pierced hole using a syringe..other pop the bottom end cap off and fill right from the juice bottle...
Either way is fine, just so you know that you fill from the bottom end, not from the end you draw on...
When you put the tank on, make sure you push it hard enuff to get it pierced and seated all the way...it takes a bit of force the first time...

Everyone seems to love the ego, because of the long battery life, and the fact that, because of the 510 threads on them, you are not limited to using the tanks...you can get cartomizers, atomizers, drip tips, and all sorts of things that will work on the batteries....
And yes, a heads up...lots of folks have had issues with the tank system.. Hopefully, it will work for you...but like I said there are other options for the ego battery...

Good luck, and happy vaping...
