The morning after my 1st full day of vaping I woke up with tight burning chest. Is this normal for beginners? I smoked 1 pack analogs along with vape. This was good for me as I smoke 2PAD. My chest hurt so bad I could not even inhale the vapor so my second day I was back to analogs with a few puffs of vapor here and there. Today is my 3rd day and my chest still hurts a little and I can't vape without coughing.

FYI: My 1st day I was alternating espresso 11mg coolcart and wowboy 24 mg. I only used these 2 so I could see how long a carto lasts me. Maybe I smoked them dry? They still had vapor, don't know about taste-my tastebuds are shot.

Please help, I want to make this work:(

I am drinking 2 liters of water

I smoked 2-3 (sometimes 4-5) PAD for 35+ years. My doc used to give asthma meds when trying to quit before, but haven't gotten any since vaping. Lung spasms aren't fun, but they don't seem to be as bad or as many with vaping vs cold-turkey. I plan on coughing stuff up for a good 6 months or more too, just not as often. I've heard you tend to vape too much the first 3 or 4 months so it's hard to forecast how much product to get. Now I'm sticking to 18 mg & gotten some 0 juice to mix with the nic or fill an empty cart (no TH though) and reserve the 24 mg for mornings (used to smoke 4-5 cigs just to get going). Drinking plenty of water certainly helps.

I too coughed a lot at first even though the inhale wasn't very deep. It sure gets better & better so hang in there!

The thing with vaping is (i'm sure some can relate) we tend to vape more than we ever smoked. This could be for numerous reasons. First, you may be overdoing it on the vaping b/c psychologically you think more is better and it will keep me off cigs. Second, nicotine is absorbed differently when it's not on fire, thus making the amount we get smaller than when we smoked. Finally, ecigs allow us to vape practically anywhere. If you were never permitted to smoke in your house, you may be vaping more than smoking. I think this could be where the burning feeling is coming from. Don't over do it. Take soft, short puffs in the beginning while your lungs are still trying to heal from years of abuse.

If the problem persists, seek medical attention!

The burning in your chest also could be from anxiety of quitting smoking and all those other chemicals you were addicted to. Anxiety is a common withdrawal symptom.

Spend some time reading in the Health section. It could be normal, or perhaps you have a sensitivity to PG. I think it's fairly normal to experience some tightness in the chest at first, but I don't recall it being that uncomfortable.

Health and Medical Issues

Best of luck!

Thank you for your response. I have been there and all they do is argue about safety. I don't give a rats ... about safety. I have been a hardcore smoker for 25 years and the damage is done. If it is healthier, great! I want to vape because I am sick of people commenting on how I smell and treating me like a lepper. My home smelling like an ashtray is horrible. My big driving force is that my husband is quitting (cutting down method) and it will help him if he does not have to smell it plus if he is successful I don't want to be stinky to him. So I am here asking in the v4l forum because everyone is helpful and I thought there might be something I am doing wrong or could change to make it better. I just want to hear other experiences.
