It seems the bottom portion of the filter stays moist but the upper half gets dry quickly
That is a fairly common problem..

If you only take a drag or two every now and then you give the atomizer more time to wick up juice, but if you use these like a cigarette and take lots of drags in a short amount of time you aren't always giving the atomizer enough time to wick up more juice in between drags.

Many people eventually move on to using a better filler material that wicks faster.
You can learn all about that in the cartridge mods subforum.

And many people just start dripping, and stop using any filler material at all.

I will go hours without vaping, then sometimes I'll just hold it in my hand and vap every few minutes. Yes I suppose sometimes I might be vaping too much but actually it gets hot quickly when I do that, so this tells me to set the dang thing down and give it a rest.

I quit smoking cigs 2 months ago. I went on the patch for two weeks, took the patch off with nothing for a few more weeks, then my son sent me the mod. I am happy and sad he did. I wanted to be off all habits like this because frankly we do not know the long term possible health issues with vaping. I saw my mother after a triple bypass, valve replacement, Emphysema and her getting phenomena. That motivated me to quit after 30 years of smoking.

I'm going to slow it down a bit. If I continue to vap I'm going to need a better battery, because mine I think has that hole in the middle, small one.
