I vape between .18 and .22 ohms regularly. Don't really know why, just learned the safety precautions, bought the equipment, started at 2 ohms and thats where I ended up being satisfied enough to leave the stinkies behind.


Question is: Is it even possible to build a device that puts out 100 watts and could still power a .18 ohm safely? Two 18650s be nice for changing out.

Welcome to the wonderful world of diy modding! There are two threads in this sub forum you need to check out, if only to learn about what is involved: Raptor Flip-Top vv, and Tinkering with the OKL-T20, both started by Mamu - she has really worked this stuff out, and the other posters also give great input. If you actually dive in you should already have some electronics experience because the power levels of this stuff are serious business. Casual assumptions can be dangerous.

Building a device that puts out 100 watts or 1000 watts is easy. Safely - yes.
From a battery? Well that's not so easy; need the good batteries for that. Plug into the dashboard on you car at 12 volts - oh yeah, that will do it.

For a device to put out 100 watts on a 0.18 ohm load begs the question of why? That's reverse. The reason you are using the 0.18 ohm is because you want to get the 100 watts from a 4 volt supply.

I'm vaping at 7.5 volts btw, off an ac/dc adapter. Regular power though, not high power.

NP there, I have a lot of reading to do while waiting for supplies to build with. I won't even attempt a build until I understand it fully, I can vape just fine with what I have now while I study, this is more a hobby/customizing thing for me, no rush. And needless to say, ECF members are awesome for answering questions, and sharing their knowledge.

No problem. I happen to be working on a 10 amp Raptor project myself right now. I agree with edyle that it can be done safely. My caution comes from also being a diy tube amplifier junkie...350 - 600 volts makes you think twice, not to mention the actual performance of the circuit! To me, efficient and reliable layout/construction is everything, and I am trying work out how to keep things compact for my bottom feeder mods. I'm trying to find the best way to build a small drop in module that contains all of the parts and features...too bad I can't do it with tubes :) Good luck on your project!
