Hello all,
I caught the bug and have been vaping for about a month and a half.
I went from a blister kit (evod) to MVP2 w/ an aspire mini&nimbus clone... but I'm not satisfied. I want more more flavor and more smoke.
The 3 amp limit (5v/11w) on the MVP2 is obviously holding me back. :(
Did some research and found that the dna 40 chipset was just released. A good deal for Hana Modz is sold out everywhere and IMO pretty overpriced.
Vapor Shark is about $70-$80 cheaper. I think the only advantage the Hana has over the VaporShark is that you can actually monitor the temperature/wattage change on the display when vaping. The bottom display on the Vapor Shark prevents this.. unless staring at a mirror lol. However, it's not a big deal for me so Vapor Shark it is. Plus, I think it looks better.
Before I pre-order and burn a huge hole in my wallet. I was wondering if the current battery that's coming with it is sufficient for 30watts of use?
I've read that the rDNA 30 from Vapor Shark... needed a VTC4 seperately than the stock battery that came with it if you wanted to vape over 20watts.
Will this be the same issue for the rDNA 40?
Thanks for reading :vapor:

A VTC4 can pull 30 AMPS of current, which at 4.2 volts is just over 120 watts of power. If you're going to 40 watts, you only need a battery with a 10 amp limit, realistically. That being said, just be safe and get something better anyway. They're not much more expensive and having a good battery beats having a missing finger or hand. Be safe, get good batteries.

As for the device itself, I don't own either of those and haven't owned previous models. That being said lots of people like the shark a lot, and the hanna as well. If you can find a shop to try one, do it. I wouldn't be too afraid of pulling the trigger on one of those devices as they're pretty reputable. Also consider looking at other box mods like the IPV2. Always good to have more power on hand if your needs ever change :) Good luck!

The VaporShark rDNA40 will come with an LG HE2 hybrid IMR battery. This battery is a 35amp 2500 mAh. More than enough to run at 40 watts, no need to replace it. Last I heard, the rDNA40 will ship out on the 28th of this month.
Just an FYI -- the LG HE2 is 20A continuous.

im in the same position as the op... went from mech mods to the dna 40 in the past 2 months. i couldnt wait to get a rdna so i got a hana... they have a bunch in stock at hyperion fyi. they are expensive, but its a nice vape experience for sure!

Haha- I couldn't wait 2-3 weeks or possibly a month for a rDNA from vapor shark. So I ordered a hana from hyperion few days ago. How long it take for it to get shipped?
Also what tank/coil you using?

at 169 bucks, I'll wait all it needs to. The Hana is at least 60 bucks more expensive.

haha, awesome! i ordered it the day it came out and it came 2 days later.

im rolling with this set up
hanadna40.jpg

a tobeco tobh v2.5. 15 wraps, 5/32" CD, 28ga, ni200, single coil. i super digging it. building with ni200 wire is something to get used to though. if you can, wrap your leads around the post screws... they are way less fragile that way rather than going through the holes.

cheers!

Follow Up- I just got my graphite hana modz dna 40 yesterday.
I used 28 ni guage / 12-13wraps on 5/64bit / single coil /purple efest 2500mah.
It's running on a 0.19ohm coil and I have the temperature set at 390F via vaping at 20W.
This is my first drip setup and I'm coming from a MVP2 with a Nautilus Mini.
The flavor is out of this world.. just a level higher than the mini. And the vapor production is GREAT! The magma does however leak even when I'm not overfilling. Anyone else having a similar issue?
Also, I never pre-heated the ni guage since I read it's not the safe to do so. Has this been confirmed?

Where is your magma leaking? Sometimes if you drip onto the top of the screw it will run down and go into the airhole and leak out the side. Just try to get it between the screws and it will go into the well.

Hmm... I have been dripping on top of the screw. You may be right! Thanks!

I am disappointed with this company. I pre-ordered a DNA40 almost two weeks ago. It gave a ship date of yesterday. So... being very excited I checked the pre-order page everyday. It stayed as being 10/30 the entire time. Then yesterday it changed to 11/7. Worried that my shipment was being delayed by one week I contacted support and asked "Does this new ship day affect my order that is supposed to ship today?" Their answer, "Yours will likely be in the 2nd or 3rd batch and will ship in 2 or 3 more weeks."

So knowing that they can't fulfill the orders they already have by 11/7, they keep advertising that the new orders will ship by then. I find this to be very deceptive and a poor business practice.

I do not have the unrealistic expectation that all orders will ship on time. But if they already know that the old orders aren't going to ship, why are they claiming that the new ones will.

I am sure their product is great, but I canceled my order on principal. When I requested that my order be canceled, they just did it with no question. I guess they aren't interested in the reason why they lost a customer. I am pretty bummed as I was looking forward to the built in wireless charging for a couple months and this was meant to be my first box mod.

**end venting

You should watch the DNA40 release video. The chip wasn't created to eliminate dry hits, it doesn't eliminate them actually just cuts the impact of them by cutting power when a limit is reached. In the video they explain the dangers that have been found by studies with super heating e-juice past a certain temperature, their intent is to give people a tool to choose their own comfort level, you can turn it off if you don't want it.
I don't speak for evolv just what I got out of the video.
