Hi Everyone, I'm Jojo and i am new here.

I am new to vaping, i have just ordered my first mod (smok Xcube Ultra) and an Limitless XL RBA.

I understand the basics of electricity, but i have been reading a lot of this forum and other online sources, but i cant find a post about choosing coils and wattages for the absolute beginner.

I chose the more advanced mod and tank because i am a true "tech junkie" and an avid DIYer.

I have been reading about building coils, and i have ordered a Coilmaster V4 coil making kit. This kit includes the ohm reader. I have a butane torch and several other electrical testing equipment, multimeters ect.

Where would you recommend i start regarding the wattage and coils. I am willing to learn and eager.

If you want to ask questions about me, feel free.

You need Kanthal wire, as you know. In the 'other' parts of the world from me, the AWG measurement seems most common.
28 is thinner than ideal i.m.o. but I use it for coils/dual coils at 1.0ohm or above each (or maybe I forget what it is... there's no label)
26 is pretty middle of the road.
24 might be the choice for 0.5ohm coils.
22 - ? maybe the best for lower...

Beyond that, who knows...

It depends on the wattages you will be vaping. If your thinking of really hi wattages obviously a thicker wire is better. So maybe start with 26g wire , you can do resistances in the .4 to higher and wattages in the range of 20 to 35 ish. If you prefer lower power, then 28g wire is better. If you go higher in power, maybe a 25 to 22 g wire is better. Some vape upwards of 75 and up, and for that 22 is definitely going to be better. Now dual coils are another factor and can allow for even more power with a certain gauge. These are just estimates and not something set in stone, you just need to experiment. But I think 26g is a great start
