Noob Question About Atomizers :)

Heya, great forum here.

There's so much to learn, but maybe you guys can clear something simple up for me quickly because these forums are daunting.

Background:
I bought 2 Vision spinners about a week ago, and two...ahem..."clearomizers," I think. I think they might be CE4's - at least they look a lot like CE4s in the pictures - but what they say on the rim is "CE ROHS" followed by a trashcan with an X through it, so yeah.

Anyway, it doesn't look like the parts on these things are replaceable, so they should probably be thrown away when they die (which should be within a month, right?)

Question:
If I'm going to need new atomizers, clearomizers, tanks, cartridges, or cartomizers soon (huh?), then I'd like to get one that ought to last a bit longer (replaceable parts?) and if it performed a bit better, that would certainly be nice! Hopefully I'll be able to pick this stuff up on the Internet later today, it is 3:54 AM on Black Friday.

The ones I see over and over in here are t3, protank and evod. Evod is plastic I think. But Plastic doesn't mean Disposable, does it? If I didn't get fruit flavors, could an evod last a long time? Does it work with vision spinner?

If I got a protank, I'd lean toward the mini. The mini Protank II is better than "I," I assume? Does it work as well/better than the evod, and does it last longer? Can both of these pieces be cleaned out so that I could switch flavors? Can either of these support "Low Resistance Heads?" I saw a thread called "The I want MORE Stage" where people were saying LR heads give you a lot more vapor. I'd prefer to just buy a kind of tank that has an LR head on it already then, but maybe that's less important.

Here's the question on short:

"I need to upgrade my Xomizer. I want something that is small, will last a long time, can be cheaply maintained, and outperforms the CE4 when used with the Vision Spinner."

If you have a recommendation and know of a place that has a Black Friday sale, please link me!

Thanks a lot!

The protank 2 and mini can both be easily taken apart and cleaned. They both use the same replacement atomizer coils which will cost roughly $2 depending on where you get them. The coil heads can be removed and soaked in pure grain alcohol to clean them out. Some people like protanks, others don't but I find them to be easy to use and offer a decent vape. You won't make any clouds with them tho.

Other folks might have better advice, these are the two I have the most experience with so far.

Hi Loci
First off (which no one else seemed to do, and I am sorry for that)

I have used the ce4's, vivi nova's, iClear16's, Evods, and Mini Protank 2 quite a bit over the last 7+ months

My personal preference is the mini protank 2 and the evod

1. coil heads are interchangeable
2. coil heads are rebuildable (if you like doing this sort of thing - you will need some specialized tools to do it right though)
3. mini protank 2 will accept any juice due to glass and metal construction
4. mini protank 2 can be completely disassembled for cleaning

I would recommend 1 mini protank 2 and 3 evods to start (backups for your backups - accidents happen and these are not available at the corner quick stop (and disposable Blu's cost more than an evod, plus taste blechy, pooie, yuck), plus about 10 replacement heads in the 1.8 to 2.2 ohm range (save the old ones, you may start rebuilding them in the future)

These are both ego threaded so they are very stable on your batteries

Now they are both bottom coil which will give a cooler and slightly airier vape than the top coils - the dual coil iClear's will give a much warmer vape (and will get rather hot to the touch if you chain vape like I do) and are not easily rebuilt (now, when I say rebuild I mean replacing the coil wire and wicks in the actual atomizer heads, not just screwing a new atty head into the tank)

Now as with everything stated here in the forum it is up to you to decide what you want (which may take some time and

to see most of these items reviewed I use youtube extensively (Pbusardo, VapinGreek, GrimmGreen are the reviewers I trust the most)

Hope this helps

To confuse things more some protanks have the 510 and some have the ego shroud but ego types can be adapted for use with a PVD/mech with a cheap and cheerful adaptor from most places :)

I have evolved from the ego type batteries and now in the world of mech mods, have the Smok e-pipe, Kamry K101 and a T5 Lava Tube, giving all my ego type batteries and clearo's to my daughters, there is a profound difference, I can see why people do go for the more exotics, I am well pleased as AHappyDeal sent not only two sets of batteries with my Kamry but a battery fuse board AND a kick which I am very pleased about.

I enjoy Pbusardo's reviews immensely, he has that no nonsense, touches all bases, down to earth manner that comes across as telling it as it is :)

Scott Bonner aka igetcha69 is a good reviewer as well, sort of Vinnie Jones expecting him to tell you to "Go get some now or get sorted" sort of thing that appeals to a proper Londoner like meself hehe

You should find this picture dictionary of juice delivery attachments to be helpful:

Proper Terminology: Is is a carto, a tank, or what?

Being a novice vapor, a clearomizer is the best choice for you. As you have learned so far, choosing one that has rebuildable (replaceable) coil heads will allow them to last longer than the CE4 clearo you currently have.

Some clearomizers are top fill, making them the easiest to fill with juice: Innokin iClear 16 & 30, Vision Vivi Nova. These are also top coiled, meaning they will produce a slightly warmer vape. These may require tilting the clearomizer horizontal when the juice level falls to keep the wick strings wet to avoid dry hits.

Some are bottom fill; you will need to remove them completely from the battery to fill with juice. They may produce a cooler vape, and since they are gravity-fed, do not require tilting horizontal when juice levels fall. Kanger Evod and Protanks fall in this category.

You can do a YouTube search for any of these devices to learn how to fill, clean, and change out their coil heads.

Hi and welcome!
I started with a mini ViviNova tank and SmokTech Winder (same thing as the spinner), which worked well for me at first. I got a mini Protank 2 a few weeks ago, and LOVE it for these reasons- glass is way better than plastic, the new ones have a removable drip tip (which I find is very important for me because I like to change them out), you can change the coil head without having to dump out all your juice, and you can rebuild the coil heads pretty easily. You can get heads anywhere from 1.8 to 2.8 ohms, and since your battery is VV, you can experiment with those to see what you like most. Plus, I just think they look nicer. I don't have any experience with the CE4 or evod.
I also have a few 510 dripping atomizers for trying new juices. You can order those from lots of different vendors- they'll last a while and can cost anywhere from $3-$10. They are pretty low maintenance, and you can also get different ohms to see what works best for different juices.
Good luck!
