I used a snus again this evening (only the second one I've used so far) and once again, it completely relaxed me. I'm actually a little puzzled about that because even though I know I got some calming effects from smoking, I never felt this good from a cigarette. Snus just plain rocks.

the "discreet" brand snus is the smallest I think, smaller in size than the general mini mint even. I like the peach. :p

I saw those on the getsnus site and was wondering about them. It says they're American, but made in the Swedish style. Do you happen to know what that means? My main reason for wanting to try Swedish snus was because the tobacco goes through a different curing process that makes them safer. But if the Discreet is made the same way, I may gives those a try too at some point. Might be too much nic, though - looks like they have a higher mg.

telsie, that's great . You're right, vaping higher nic than you need only adds discomfort. What you've found in snus is the same as us so use it as you feel you need to. Caesarea and Hellen A. Handbasket do that and some days they don't feel the need. Tobacco itself isn't really a bad thing, it's just been manipulated by man in a way that makes it bad. Swedish snus stands on its own, and for me it goes into that "medicinal" category, like tea and other herbal remedies.

It sure seems medicinal. I think I'm in love with Swedish snus. It totally took away some anxiety I was having tonight.

As far as placement, no real law there. I prefer portions on top and in the rear above the molars. I work in a "tobacco free" facility and discretion is a priority. The only "problem" with rear placement is that's also where some saliva ducts reside and can send the nic into your system quicker. Try it and see if it works for ya. Also, the burn comes from the mint. Peppermint and spearmint flavors burn a little when you first start using them, but after a week or so you won't feel it anymore.

Yeah, I figured the burn was just from the potent minty flavor. I was expecting it this time, so it was quite as dramatic. So if you tuck a snus further back in your mouth, do you end up swallowing nic-laced saliva? And if so, is that a problem for your stomach at all? Or does it just use up the snus quicker?

Easiest way to get small potions: Buy loose snus, fold into cut-up tea bag. Lot cheaper, too. A bit inconvenient when you are not at home, but I am sure that could be solved, too. I just don't need to, I only snus at home, for some reason.

Hmm. Something to keep in mind if I find myself using snus more often. Something about half he size of this mini would be perfect, I think. Not sure there would be enough tobacco in that to do anything, but that's probably what I'd need to actually

Telsie, the mini mint is currently my favorite snus also. I have a order coming from Northern later this week that will include a new flavor Iam anxious to try.

So far, Mini Mint is all I've tried, but I may get more adventurous after I go through a can of it. I drink a lot of coffee and mint flavor doesn't really go well with that. Also, I mainly vape vanilla, which goes well with coffee, but not the minty taste of these snus!

Sure is TV! Order came in today which included 2 snuffs to try. (I have you guys to blame!) I've been reading so much about these I just had to give it a try. Also ordered some Thunder products for a co-workers husband who is trying to quit smoking. I think they would be to "sterk" for me but just right for him.

Great to have ya, Kathy :). Yeah, I'd blame it on those guys, too :D. Mmmm...Thunder....:).

Yep, me too. The feeling of well-being goes so much deeper and it's gentle, instead of peaks and valleys like with smokes. I stopped vaping a while back to simplify maintenance, but the combo of snus and a relaxing vape is way more enjoyable than a smoke ever was :).

That I know of, Discreet is pasteurized like Swedish snus and several members here use it on occasion. Peach seems to be the favorite. The only Discreet I tried was "Full" flavor. That's about the nastiest snus anybody can have a nightmare about, but the others are evidently much tastier. Nic is probably comparable to the Mini Mints. All the pasteurized American snus seem to have high nic ratings, but they don't deliver much. At least not the "wow" factor of Swedish.

It's ok to swallow it, won't hurt the tummy, but I do think less is absorbed into the blood if too much is swallowed. As it sits between the cheek and gum, nic is absorbed directly into the blood, but a rather large part of what gets digested is metabolized in the stomach and liver. Waste not, want not and all, I use high nic portions and sometimes a fresh portion pushed too far back can turn on the waterworks to the point I feel I'm gulping it down. It hasn't led to a feeling of not getting enough nic, though :D.

I finally worked my way through this thread and have to add my praise for that chart. I was trying to get a feel for comparative nic between ultra light cigs which I had been consuming at an alarming rate and e cigs back when I started vaping. I even asked one of the manufacturers and didn't get as good an answer.

On the size issue, I wish the swedes would take a look at Camel's packaging. That reminds me, a short break. Writing just reminded me that I just got a roll of thunder frosted long portion that I ordered because it sounded like it might be shaped like Camels. It is and I'm a happy camper. Sorry for the lapse of thought but it gave me an excuse for a nightcap. :)

Anyway, the longer thinner shape is much more comfortable under my lip and I've read others say the same thing. If they shaped the minis the same way, you'd probably find them more comfortable.

I don't think vaping would have ever gotten me totally off cigarettes. However, I think snus may be able to get me to zero nic vaping over time. I ordered up some tastyvapor (I think that's the company since I'm waiting on the order) 42mg liquid. They sell 4oz of cutter flavored the same as the 1oz nic bottle. I'm going to cut it down to less than the 24mg I've been vaping, then try the no nic straight up. If I can get away with 2 to 4 snuses a day and no nic vaping, I'll be a happy camper.

As it is, I'm a happy camper with this thunder frost long under my upper lip right now.

Hey TV, that issue with being more antsy at home couldn't come from all those little feet running around looking for attention from your weary bones could it?:)

Never a break, I'm tellin' ya .

I believe V2 (Denmark) sees a good future in the American market and is keen to what we like.....Thunder high nic portions and mini's, Offroad with flavor that the Swedish folk probably find a turn-off, Fellini geared toward some of the female market. Swedish Match is making a slow turn too, but not near as aggressive as V2. And I think portion design is more important in the US and UK than in the homeland. I'm a big V2 fan...at least for now :).

Agreed, smoking never calmed me down like the snus do. I was just about to ask about long-skinnies... and voila! here it is. Is that an exhaustive list, TV?
At least it gives me a jumping-off point.
Thanks,

Thanks,

Not so far, but I sure expect it to grow. Currently in the Scaninavian line-up:

Swedish Match Lab 01 (8mg) and 02 (13mg) (mild tobacco flavor)

V2 Tobacco Thunder Frosted Long + (mild spearmint, 12mg)

Slim pickin's.

So the labs now have to be added to my next order. I wonder what the meat man is gonna think when he realizes I've segregated a portion of the freezer for............a lot of portions.

I wonder why it took so long for the long skinnies to come to market? At least BT got something right.
