Hey all, this is pretty much going to be a repost of my first post, since it wasn't in the right area. I just learned about e-cigs a few days ago. I've been smoking for the past 8 years or so, up to a pack a day, and once I heard about these things I had to know more.
After hanging out here for a few days and reading up on it, I can definitely say that I want to try it out. I hate the smell/taste/health affects of smoking, but I love the act of smoking itself, so these seem perfect. I do have a few questions that I haven't seen answers to here, hopefully some of you can help answer them.

1. How do the vapors themselves taste? I've never liked the way tobacco smoke tastes, and I'm hoping the flavored cartridges taste the way they should, and don't just have a scented exhale.

2. What have your experiences been with the e-cig case? I've read that the liquid can drip out into the felt and leave a residue along the entire unit, is there a remedy for this? Maybe keeping a cover over the cartridge or wrapping the whole unit in something?

3. I'm getting into DJing, and I've read that loud noise and bass can cause both the atomizer and battery to turn on. I've also read hints of a new model that can be "switched on" to avoid this? Can anybody confirm this, or is there anybody else with a similar situation that has found a solution?

4. Has anybody tried using the nicotine patch in conjunction with a 0-nicotine cartridge, or know of somebody who has?

5. I'm pretty sure I want my first kit to be either the Pilot or DSE901 from Puresmoker.com, or the DSE901 from Truevapor.com, but I'm not sure on the difference between the two 901's. Can anybody give me some insight to this?

I'm very happy that this forum exists and that I was able to find it, everybody here seems very nice and eager to help. I can't wait to order my first kit, I'll probably do so in the next few days.

Wow, that's a lot of ground to cover. You might be better off breaking it up and asking each question in a separate thread. I'm pretty new to this, but I'll give it a shot. I hate to see anyone make their first post and not get a reply...

The flavors don't have a strong taste. No matter how you flavor it, you will still taste the nicotine (which you're already used to). Think of it like pipe tobacco, which has a variety of flavors. They're good, you just gotta find the one you like. Get a sampler...

2. What have your experiences been with the e-cig case? I've read that the liquid can drip out into the felt and leave a residue along the entire unit, is there a remedy for this? Maybe keeping a cover over the cartridge or wrapping the whole unit in something?

Get used to wiping the liquid off, it will get on your hands, the case, and just about everything else. Not as big a deal as you think. It's just something that comes with the territory...

3. I'm getting into DJing, and I've read that loud noise and bass can cause both the atomizer and battery to turn on. I've also read hints of a new model that can be "switched on" to avoid this? Can anybody confirm this, or is there anybody else with a similar situation that has found a solution?

Yes, you can buy switches for them. Kate swears by them, and so do several others. If you DJ, you'll probably want this because yes, loud music can fry the atomizer...

4. Has anybody tried using the nicotine patch in conjunction with a 0-nicotine cartridge, or know of somebody who has?

Haven't tried them together, but I've used both and I think it's worth a try. Let us know how it works...

5. I'm pretty sure I want my first kit to be either the Pilot or DSE901 from Puresmoker.com, or the DSE901 from Truevapor.com, but I'm not sure on the difference between the two 901's. Can anybody give me some insight to this?

I just asked this question, and was told that there really isn't any difference between the DSE901 and the RN4075, but don't know what the pilot is...

That help any?

Thanks TC, I guess it was an intimidating list of questions, heh, never thought about it.

You definitely answered most of what I was wondering. I'll have to inquire with the different providers about the "on switch" to see if they will work with the kind I want. I'll try out the nicotine patch/0-mg capsules and let you know how it goes, and I think I'm going to get a case and just wrap the unit in old microweave cloth, see if that works.

Thanks again

Depends on the flavour but there are liquids that tastes like what they say (coca cola pina coloda ect) i personally am satisfied with the flavour tastes of various juices

i carry a 5ml bottle and ecig in a shirt pocket have not heard of any mixing happeneing

a manual switch ecig would be best my dse901 from puresmoker has not turned on i have a 900wattrms car system that has not triggered this to happen

4. Has anybody tried using the nicotine patch in conjunction with a 0-nicotine cartridge, or know of somebody who has?
no expierience with this i would assume no nic and patch would be fine only patch giving you the nic

No, he's a current smoker who doesn't like the taste of burning tobacco.

So that's like...eating lasagna 20 times a day when you really don't like lasagna.

*shrug*

Yeah, when you put it that way it sounds kind of strange. What can I say? I've never been into the taste, unless they were flavored. I usually smoke camel lights, because all my family members smoke those. But I've smoked Black&milds, Sweet Dreamz, and cloves and enjoyed them all.

I think I've smoked this much because...well, like I said, I enjoy the act of smoking. Taking a drag, blowing smoke, the whole look and feel, I like it. Doesn't mean I have to enjoy the taste. I mean, I don't like the way most veggies taste, but I still try to eat them on a regular basis.

Thanks Fuzzy, I think I'm definitely going for the 901 from puresmoker, just need to find a manual switch attachment. Anybody know where to find them? The only place I've found is vaporguys.com, and they're out of stock.
Thanks again for all who've responded.
Cheers,

There are a lot of really good flavors out there. I personally swear by Totally Wicked, I found them through this forum and they seem to have a good reputation. All the ones I have tried taste the way they should, and if you're looking for something they don't have, they just got in DIY flavorless liquid, just add your favorite flavor and you're good to go.

2. What have your experiences been with the e-cig case? I've read that the liquid can drip out into the felt and leave a residue along the entire unit, is there a remedy for this? Maybe keeping a cover over the cartridge or wrapping the whole unit in something?

My supermini always leaks in the case, but I've found that my 901 doesn't. It could be the design, or it could be because I've started cutting the liquid with glycerine, which makes it thicker. Glycerine also gives you more smoke and cuts down your smoking costs. Good stuff.

3. I'm getting into DJing, and I've read that loud noise and bass can cause both the atomizer and battery to turn on. I've also read hints of a new model that can be "switched on" to avoid this? Can anybody confirm this, or is there anybody else with a similar situation that has found a solution?

A couple of the Janty e-cigs have the manual switch. I'd recommend the Dura (aka 510/titan/etc) once they put it back in stock with the manual switch. The last batch, from what I understand, had battery problems. Word is they're re-releasing if as a manual. Apart from the battery problems, it's supposed to be a great smoke.

However, I've never had problems with batteries turning on, and I spend a lot of time in bars/pubs/clubs/etc with some pretty loud music.

5. I'm pretty sure I want my first kit to be either the Pilot or DSE901 from Puresmoker.com, or the DSE901 from Truevapor.com, but I'm not sure on the difference between the two 901's. Can anybody give me some insight to this?

A 901 is a 901, for the most part. Different companies print different logos on them, but they're all pretty much the same from what I understand. Parts from one should work with the other. The big difference between a 901 from 'x' and a 901 from 'y' is the support. These things are not perfect for everyone. There are the nigh on inevitable battery and atomizer problems. Make sure you go somewhere with good customer service.

hope this helps
