I switched from smoking to vaping in February and have been using refillable pod devices. I've been doing some reading on RTAs for MTL vaping and a photo in this article about the Kayfun Prime shocked me.

vapebeat.com/vape-user-guides/how-to-setup-kayfun-prime

If you view one of the photos at full resolution, it looks like there's a LOT of corrosion on the screws and the deck. And he just recently bought it, according to what he wrote. This shocked me. Is this amount of corrosion common?

Also, I thought that the Kayfun Prime was stainless steel but the deck in the photo looks more like chrome plated than bare steel. Is it bare steel or plated? Are there any RTAs for MTL vaping that are bare stainless steel or are they all plated?

Thanks in advance for your help.

That just looks filthy to me.
A good brushing with some hot water and dish soap will handle it straight away.
I agree, the deck just looks dirty, as though someone had been vaping a very gunky juice and let the wick and coil get really nasty. It should have been cleaned before taking pics for publication.

The screws in an authentic Kayfun should be solid SS, not plated. Unfortunately, the pics aren't detailed enough to see what's really going on with them.

Thank you for the comments, guys. I noticed that some of the clones seem to be plated. And in this dealer photo of a brand new SXK Kayfun Prime clone, it looks like the plating is flaking off. That is one of the reasons that I want to avoid plating. It seems like a lot of dealers call products "stainless steel" when they are actually just chrome plated. It seems that the Berserker and other RTAs are also plated. If there's no plating at all on an authentic Kayfun Prime, I may give it a shot. But it is expensive and it would only be worth it to me if it is bare steel with no plating on it. Is there any plating on the Kayfun Prime or is it only bare steel with a plastic insulator?

Here's a link to a dealer photo of the SZK Kayfun prime clone:

I added an arrow to point at what looks like chrome flaking off
