I fill them as they are intended to be filled, not with the condom push method. Re the other use of the condom - if you put a condom on the threaded end of a V4L while filling, you need the little spiky thing (aka the ".... plug") too. but that still won't guarantee no leaking since the spike does not fill the whole air channel)

This is a good video. The video is a bit old so I think his carto may have an inner seal (current V4L cartos do not) and his stuffing may be a bit looser because I do need to rotate the carto to get the juice to soak in at a reasonable rate. I hold a tissue against the threaded end hole and I try to fit in at least 18 drops. 18-24 drops is 1ml and these are approx 1ml cartos. Also he shows straightening of the air channel which is only needed if the channel gets crooked.

What I do in addition to what this guy does is cleanup and settling. When done I clean/dry the threads if needed, then I tilt the open end down into the tissue and puff into the threaded end hole to clear the air channel - I want to see light through threre. Then I use a pointed bit of tissue to sop up any loose/extra juice above the stuffing and recap it (or put on a drip tip as a mouthpiece). Then, only for fresh fills of blanks, I let it settle to make sure every bit of stuffing gets wet so I won't singe the carto. I lay the carto on different sides for 15-20 minutes - that's enough time for my 70pg/30vg juice to get all of the stuffing damp. If you have thicker higher-VG juice you may need to wait a lot longer.
