hey all, first off...hello. i'm a new vaper.

2nd, i have a vamo, and i have a question if mine has a problem, or if this is a common occurance...
i have been noticing that when i check my ohms, that i will get readings that are very odd, for example my 2.4ohm vivi head has read anywhere from 1.7-9.5ohms. now this is an old head and i dont know if it is because the head is old(but still vapes quite nicely on VV mode) or if the resistance check is off.

another example is i have built a rba myself, and it started off at about 3.5 ohms, then went up to 7.6, then down to 1.7 without firing it, but just checking it over and over...

any help is appreciated

i'll just tell u that my vivi heads are never what they say they are, i get anywhere from 2.5 to 3.6 for my supposed 2.4 heads. sounds like ur vamo is screwy though.

While the "rated" resistance for heads isn't exact, that's true, but the OP's is constantly changing resistance on the same head, not just being slightly off from the rated resistance. I'm fairly certain it's an issue with his heads, not the Vamo

Anyway, I'd bet it's a short (can't be sure I guess until the OP reports back)

I believe the problem to be the little rubber insulators getting squished somewhere in the stem or coil head of the nova. Unscrew the nova a bit so it's not torqued down all the way. If this doesn't help, loosen up the coil head a tiny bit as well. The top cap puts pressure on the coil head in a downward direction, the stem puts pressure in an upward direction, and the positive post for the 510 connection also puts upward pressure on the coil head. Small differences in tolerances and not having the right balance of pressure on the coil head can cause it to short out.

My Vivi Nova did this same thing, and it was fixed by a little loosening up here and there. My Vision Eternity also did this, when the positive wire post began to wobble and short out. Resistance changed from around 1 ohm to 8 ohm and everywhere inbetween.

I replaced the silica gasket in mine tonight with a 60 size oring you'll find in the plumbing section of the hardware store. The method is in the vamo forum here look for my post to it from my profile. My vamo is no longer giving incorrect readings due to center pin.

will definitely give that a shot tomorrow...

side note, does anyone have experience with the vapeonly BCC? i have one, and i have tossed it aside because i am getting nothing but horrible experiences from it.
i used it straight out of the box, and had dry hit, then i followed advice from a pbusardo review, and took out 1 of the wicks, and now i get nothing but juice in my mouth no matter what i do, and there is a pool of juice in the top of the device, right underneath my drip tip. i hate to throw it out if there is a simple fix, but so far i cannot think of anything to fix it, i even put the wick back in, and now im back to dry hits, and the occasional gurgle then mouthful of juice...

Very good call! I hadn't thought of that, the center pin of the Vamo could also be shorting out through the insulator. I just figured the heads were responsible since I know Vivi Novas have shorting issues. I was fairly certain that was it, especially after the OP said loosening up the Nova fixed the issue, but that would also fix the issue of the Vamo's center pin not being insulated properly.

OP, the way to figure out if it's the Vamo or your heads, put your RBA on the Vamo tightened down with NO coil. It should read completely open, 9.99ohm, due to there being no coil, no complete circuit. If it reads anything other than 9.99ohm you'll know it's the Vamo shorting out. You could also use the Vivi Nova to test this out, but you'd have to take it apart and remove the head completely.
